Hi all, firstly can I just say I'm not sure if I should start a new conversation when I want to talk about something, or continue in the Bendamustine/Rituximab thread that I joined some time ago as having the same treatment? This is the first time I've joined a forum and it is very helpful, so thanks to everyone. So anyway, all going well, and due for 4th treatment at beginning of March, but in the last ten days or so I've had incredible itching on my face, mainly forehead and on the fleshy bits, cheeks mainly.. I find it really hard not to scratch like a kid with chicken pox. I'm thinking it must be to do with treatment as I've not started (or stopped) taking any drugs and not been eating any strange foods or doing anything out of the ordinary to cause it, and of course not been out in the sun as we've hardly had any.! I do walk to and from work each day,, a round trip of about two and a half miles, often in very windy weather, so maybe that has caused a flare up. I don't itch anywhere else, but everything else is always covered when I go out. Sorry to ramble on, but Is it ok to take anti histamines? I will be seeing my team next week anyway but in the meantime would be good not to scratch myself to pieces.
Hi Rose, best to call your specialist nurse this morning and just check its ok to take the anti histamine tablets, have you thought about using a scarf to cover parts of your face to see if it is the cold and wind? I find it does with my legs when I go out on my daily walks. Hope you get sorted as there is nothing worse when it starts.
Hi Rose 321, perfectly ok to start a new subject discussion as the title will pick up more focused comments.
As John says do call your clinical team and explain your challenges and see if it’s ok to take antihistamines.
The skin is very reactive to changes in your metabolism. I had a skin NHL so my skin was itchy all the time but there are meds/creams that can help you ((hugs))
Thank you both. I will try calling later but at the mo we are in the middle of the storm and phone lines down and mobile signal not working! The joys of the country....
