Itching

I’ve had five cycles of my six chemo treatment (Bendamustine and Obinutuzumab) for my NHFL but have started to get terrible itching around my neck, that’s driving me mad

Will be asking the clinical team for advice and help with this but just wonder if anybody here has had similar? It seems odd to me that I should get what seems to be a new symptom at this stage. Thanks Pray

  • Hi  your body is going through a lot at the moment and your skin will be very reactive. There will at times be no rhythm or reason for itching, it could well be your skin has just ‘had enough’ and is having a pity me party.

My type of NHL was a rare skin type so full body itching was my life for over 15-16 years Flushed

Do call your team as they can give you something to help. There are lots creams like Doublebase or Hydromol you can get over the counter. Watch what you are using in the shower, stay away from scented shower gels. I used Dermol 200 Shower Emollient for over 15 years.

Ware lose clothing and don’t scratch!!!!! when you want to scratch feed your skin with moisturiser and make sure you are well hydrated - you should be drinking a good 2 litres of water a day to do this and flush the treatment toxins from your system.

  • Mike. Thanks for your advice - that’s very helpful. You’ve certainly been through it all and have a great deal of experience in the issues many of us here are having. I’ll definitely speak with my medical team as I’m in for treatment tomorrow. I called them last week and was prescribed antihistamine tablets but they’ve not helped it all. Will keep you posted and once again many thanks.
