Boris Johnson said on Wednesday that there would be an announcement on Friday about certain groups needing to go into isolation for 12 weeks.
Well guess what?
There wasn’t one.
So, what do I do carry on working?
If I get the virus and end up in hospital will someone say why didn’t you stay at home!
There is just info about social distancing on the Gov page.
I Totally agree I’m not trusting a Government with my life I don’t belive anything since I realised lock down mean Chanel Tunnel -4 Trains a day

The only person we know with Covid is my niece who works in the Hospital.
She had only been there 2 weeks.
Glad my next appointment is Feb next year
That's the problem there are many who have/had the virus and don't know no side effects etc, but they can carry it and SPREAD it, not sure why you feel the need to say what you have said Doh
I would think the cancer unit at hospitals is one of the safest places to be certainly is at my hospital, I reaaly don't worry about attending appointments and treatment I just do as I am told, social distance etc, my next treatment is on Tuesday and I will be discusing all things covid with my consultant, but I know what he will say/ recommend STAY AT HOME
What makes me so mad is the way the government is handling this, when they informed us that are sheilding (on a Friday night!!) they had not consulted Drs Hospital PHE etc and NOTHING had changed!! Ever since Cummings went on his up country trip and to the hospital, and the jolly to Barnard Castle to test his eyes (yeah right!) they have just tried to hide it away with supposedly good news re the virus.
Each to their own another few weeks or months I'd be quite happy to stay at home if it means a few more years on this planet

This is scary part that area of uk Has highest rate of Seriously ill & Deaths in nursing homes I will let you check dates , but all Very interesting , .....
Very sorry hope she is better soon Lack of PPE except if your in I expect hospitals where rich famous royals may go I noticed the queens relations Eg William & Kate’s Children see no date for them returning to school ...Death insurance not high enough just asking ????.
Well they all should be wearing masks soon.
The point is Hospital is where you go if you have the virus.
So the staff are most likely to catch it.
Just remember how well they kept it out of care homes.
Also I noticed nurses are not very good at social distancing.
They share rest rooms, canteens etc.
If I NEEDED to go I would but I don’t.
Nowhere is risk free just like my work environment.
Take care.
That is so not true of hospitals and staff, yes if you need hospital treatment for covid of course you go to the hospital
At my Hospital and I would imagine most others the covid wards are kept away from the cancer units, care homes were neglegted due to the poor responce to this virus from the government a completly different kettle of fish from hospitals
Like you say nowhere is risk free but hospitals and cancer units are much safer than some/many work enviroments
As for saying nurses being not so good at social distancing simply not true that they mix covid ward nurses/staff with cancer units or any other units in hospital, it's like gaining access to Fort Knox in my hospital to get in the cancer unit doors are locked and you have to have an appointment to gain entry
Masks there is so much conflicting information regarding the wearing of them, hopefully the government are on top of the supply of PPE when this is bought in, they didnot even consult with the hospitals reagrding this, it's another "on the hoof rule" same as the sheilded can go out now, they seem to be making things up as they go along, maybe to take the flack away from Cummings
I have no problem going to my hospital in fact feel as safe there as being at home in my little bubble.
I really feel you are doing the hospital and staff and real injustice
Stay safe stay at home but don't stop your treatment
To add to our thoughts. It was 1963 before a measles vaccine was found and introduced.
My granddad was a piper with the 1st Gordon Highlanders and on 1st of July 1916 went over the top at opening assault of the Battle of the Somme he eventually lost his arm but lived until 1956. During his time in the field hospital. There were as many troops died in hospital during those few weeks due to a measles outbreak rather then their specific injuries!!!
We now have the amazing MMR vaccine, but many still do not let’s their children have it and now there has been a worrying increase in measles across the UK.
My SCT killed off my childhood vaccines and as the MMR is live, I can’t have it so have to ‘live’ with the knowledge that if I develop measles this is very bad news for me but we had to get on with life.
This time next year we may have a vaccine but COVID19 will most likely have developed into CIVID 20 so just like the flu vaccine - it will be a continuous cat and mouse game.
My wife and I had a few Facebook memories come up over the weekend and it brought back the memories when we took my first steps out of my 9ish months lockdown post SCT. I am still around, I had lots of bad infections but I am still around.
The road forward will have bumps but once the dust settles and a number of months have passed we will develop our own life rhythm.
In the early days post SCT my Macmillan Heamatology Nurse Consultant said life would never be the same and she was spot on........ “but you will find a new rhythm to life”
So it’s important that we don’t crowd our focus on what the negative are it will be but look to the future that we can and will move into.
Stay safe but don’t be controlled by fear.
Sure, nowhere is risk free. But all the hospitals round here have closed their multiple entrances and now you have to go through a manned entrance & along a set pathway to your department. There's no chance of just wandering in and coughing freely! It's not like trains and buses. This is being managed by people who know about risk.
Best of all, my local hospital has Oncology, Haematology and Renal dialysis all together in a separate block with its own entrance and clinic area. This means all us most vulnerable folk don't find ourselves having to pass through primary care or A&E where the snotties and sickies hang out. They only let patients in alone for treatments, which is a bit lonely for some, but safer. It's always been a comfortingly clean hospital and the nurses are impeccable. Blood tests can be done by the GP, who also uses a careful locked door and controlled entry policy. I'm starting to get routine appointments for several specialists, with careful instructions on behaviour & hygiene.
I think you might not have noticed that many direct care nursing and medical staff are socially distanced from everybody but their own teams and their patients. Many are not going home to their families, but sleeping in, or in alternative accomodation. It's the same with care home staff. I've got young friends, a couple of junior doctors, with a first baby due any day now. She had the disease early and was quite ill, still worrying about her baby. He hasn't been home for weeks because he's working in ICU. Nurse friends are the same. They cannot socially distance within hospitals from patients or colleagues. My neighbour is working in a care home, so we can't meet because of my lousy immune system. You may perceive that they're all together socialising, but there's a lot of careful loneliness needed to safeguard the public and families.
Yes, hospital staff are more likly to catch the virus. That's why everyone was so angry about the lack of effective fast testing and PPE. And about the deaths. Prevention is still better than cure with any infections and this has been a real wakeup call for the carelessly grubby. Heck, even my husband is beginning to be convinced about handwashing and a clean kitchen and I never thought I'd see that day!
