 Hi all

B cell high grade non-hodgkins lymphoma a month ago,
going for my first Chemo session
Please suggest me  how to deal with it
 PLEASE HELP

  • Hello. I wish you a successful treatment plan. This diagnosis is scary. My husband has completed 6 Pola R Chop chemotherapy sessions plus 2 anti body treatments. He feels quite well now, awaiting PET scan.

My advice, take good rest. Drink plenty of water.

Try walking a few times per day, you may not feel like it, but it helps to be active and outdoors, if possible.

If you feel well, don't push yourself too much. Regular activity, tell others how you feel. The person/people who are in the same house/or family members, are not going through chemotherapy, so they don't have a clue how you might be feeling. Stay in touch on this thread/group.

Every little bit of support helps.

    Best wishes. R White

  • Hi  and well done navigating across to this corner of the Community.

As I said in your post in the New to Community I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have DLBCL but for some context I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare (8 in a million) incurable but treatable type of Cutaneous T-Cell NHL (a type of slow growing Low-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) ……. eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of aggressive Peripheral T-Cell NHL (a type of fast growing High-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) was then presenting so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

So we can help you as best as we can…. a few questions……

    Are you in the UK?

What hospital are you being treated at?

Have you been told the exact name of the treatment you are having?……. for example I had 6 cycles of at-EPOCH.

    Where is our Lymphoma presenting?

  • Hope everyone is coping with treatments.

My husband is finished 6 chemo treatments plus 2 anti body treatments.

    Last one was April 4th.

He has been told he is low in B12. Will start injections 3 per week, for 2 weeks.

    Is this regular  after chemo??

  • Hi BCL,

Sorry to hear this. I have been recently diagnosed with this exact same cancer. Though I am likely Stage 1, they will do treatment. I am nervous about it as well. Do you have a medical social worker? I don't yet. If you are looking at how to deal with it emotionally, the Irish Cancer Society has a booklet that I am attaching here. I have yet to read through it for myself but.
