I finished treatment for lymphoma at Christmas, had 6 rounds of R-CHOP and 12 zaps of radiotherapy, which seems to have been successful. It's hard to be definitive as no-one has ever said ;cured; or 'remission', but after the final PET scan I was told it was a 'good result'. Due to the doctors strike my 3 month review was cancelled, so all I got was a telephone appointment with an intern who didn't seem to be familiar with my case, and said my treatment has had a good result. I should be happy, right? Well, I feel like I've been cast adrift, just left to get on with it, and no-one tells me anything....
Anyway, I'm now at the Day Treatment Unit once a month to have a bone infusion, which today I found out was zometa. Ever since I started chemo I've had aches and pains, but since starting zometa I've had quite fierce pain in my lower back / kidney area, which feels very much like a pulled muscle. It eases off with paracetamol, is worse first thing in the morning, and is generally a low grade nuisance.
Just wondering if anyone else is on this bone infusion treatment, and if they have muscle pain or similar?
I've got my 6 month review coming up in a week or so, I'll certainly bring it up then, but I'd like to hear from the group if anyone else is on zometa.
Steve
Hi Steve Conundrum1956 this a new one on me and I did a serch and did not get any hits but let’s see if there are any members around to help you out.
I do hope you get answers at your appointment and indeed something to help the pain.
Thanks Mike, I've been doing a little digging and found that zometa is quite common for those at risk from osteoporosis, and very early in my path I broke my left arm, right where the lymphoma initially presented. I was told at my first meeting with the oncologist when they presented my treatment plan that I would likely have 'bone infusions' at the end, but no-one ever said what it was, or what it was for. I'd certainly be interested in hearing from anyone in the group if they had anything similar.
To widen your support base you may want to check out the Lymphoma Action. Lymphoma Action is the only UK Lymphoma Specific Charity who have lots of good reliable information, videos..... basically all things Lymphoma....... pre, during and post treatment.
They run regular Support Platforms..... I highly recommend these groups as there is nothing better than talking with other who have walked the journey…… and you would most likely bump into me again
They also have a great Lymphoma Action Buddy Service where people can be linked up with someone who has walked the same treatment journey…… you can ask if they have anyone on their Buddy list who have been through this treatment.
They also have a Lymphoma helpline on 0808 808 5555 where you can talk with someone and get support - open every week day from 10 till 3.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
