Hi all,

It's 3rd June, and after being told last night I definitely have DLBCL after a Biopsy last Tues, I'm going to be signing the consent form tomorrow and starting the R-CHOP Chemo on Monday.

Whilst there has been worry and fear from those around me, I feel unnaturally calm. I've had a *huge* lump under my arm since the end of February, and frankly getting a clear diagnosis and plan is more of a relief than anything else....

I also wonder if my long-term (low dosage) of Sertraline may of course be stopping any gnashing of teeth and wailing?

I'm also in a very lucky position that I can work flexible hours with no pressing time constraints - which must help?

I've decided to keep a diary of what meds + effects I have on a daily basis, as I think that will give me a clear view of progress (and even being on Prednisolone for a few days is providing massive relief already)

Anyway - I'll post here with any comments or questions as life takes a small diversion for the next 6 months or so.

Cheers everyone,

DengieBloke (somewhere in the Essex Marshes!)

I had exactly the same treatment last year. Had four lots of r-chop from October to December. Then on the 23rd of  December got a phone call saying the treatment worked. The cancer was gone and only needed to have 2 lots of rituximab. I had one new years eve and the last one January 21st 2021. Since then just been building myself up. Have blood tests and phone calls every 3 months and finally have a face to face consultation end of September. I do still have extreme tiredness at times but I'm.guesding that's normal. It's been 7 months since last lot of treatment. Also my hair is growing back as  curly as before. Other than that I'm OK

  • Hi Jazzylady

It’s lovely to read your post, it’s so nice to hear that you’re doing well. It’s so encouraging too. I really hope you continue to thrive and get stronger by the day.

    Hi all.

So tomorrow is hopefully my last treatment. Then I have the painful wait of 5 weeks or so for the PET scan to see if it's all gone.

  • All the best for tomorrow

  • Hi Paul

Great to hear an update from you. I really hope this is your last treatment and you can put this all behind you. I’ve got my 5th one on Friday and my final one on the 15th Oct. I don’t know about you but it’s gone really quickly!

How have you been feeling? I was a bit low after my 4th, but I’ve had a word with myself and I’m back on track again!! The support from this site has been amazing and it’s so lovely to chat to people who are going through the exact same thing.

    Keep us all posted.

Best wishes and I hope tomorrow goes well.

    Hi Sarah,

I too was a bit down after my 4th cycle, which seemed a lot more brutal in week 1 than the previous cycles - but once I got past that first week, it all seemed much the same as before.

At times it seems to have gone quickly (and my wife thinks it has), but at other times it feels like I've been in an extended lockdown for 2 years (with covid as well)

I'm still feeling a bit nervous about being around lots of people (not covid... just worrying about catching everyday germs), but hopefully that will pass too.

In any case... the new puppy is keeping me occupied!

It will take time to develop your way of dealing with infection control and how you mix with people as let’s face it Covid or not you will be more susceptible to infection over this winter….. so one persons ‘small’ could can be your ‘big’ infection but it’s important not to left this become a fear and start to define you…… you are going through a lot at the moment so you need to experience the victory at the end not see it robbed from you.

  • Hi Gill

Thank you so much, sorry for disappearing! I think it’s those pesky steroids that give me a wobble. I don’t sleep whilst I’m on them, so I think sleep deprivation and feeling tired just made me feel a bit low.  I’m back on track now. Went out with my best friend on Sunday, went to a dog show and then out for Sunday lunch and a few glasses of wine, it really is nice to do ‘normal’ stuff!

Anyway, how are you doing? I’ve been thinking about you.
