Hello Macmillan, Hello CLL suffers

I,'ve had CLL for years and years, or so it seems. Well it's over. 20 years and still watching and waiting.

I thought it was getting worse, with constant night sweats, going to sleep in the chair at the drop of a hat and very lethargic.

My consultant just recently moved me from every 2 months appointment to every 4 months.

So I've got it wrong

I have decided I'll just go on with life and ignore it, well stop worrying about it, CLL that is.

I'll put it all down to diabetes or arthritis or something else.

The answer is the same as in the beginning ' watch & wait '

I've now turned 86 years old and I consider at the speed the days seem to go bye I consider myself very lucky. So I'll enjoy my time left and fill each day with things I want to do, or nothing if that's today's activity.

My advice to all is, it's no good worrying what will happen will happen, we only steer it a little and does it really matter as long you still feel you have some control.

If you are just starting out with CLL please don't make it a problem and you may be lucky like me, still looking forward to what is to come.

Kind regards to all.

  • I love your message James.  It's so true, these conditions can take over our lives and rob us of peace and happiness.

I've spent a few weeks worrying and your message came at the right time, I'll try to get on with it, as a few weeks ago, beginning of June, I was enjoying the long bright sunny days and looking forward to summer.  I can still do that, as apparently I am lucky with my diagnosis :)

Thank you so much for your positive message, I wish you a very happy day, doing whatever todays activity is (I love that, that it could be nothing).

    My best wishes to you.

  • Hi  and good to hear from you again.

Getting on with life…… that’s the best way to navigate this journey.

Do remember to check out Lymphoma Action. Lymphoma Action is the only UK Lymphoma Specific Charity who have lots of good reliable information, videos…… basically all things relating to your condition....... pre, during and post treatment..

Lymphoma Action run regular Support Platforms...... I highly recommend these groups as there is nothing better than talking with others who have walked the journey. I also volunteer for Lymphoma Action and regularly talk with folks who are living with CLL, SLL and HCL.

They also have a great Lymphoma Action Buddy Service where you can be linked up with someone who has walked the same treatment journey.

They also have a helpline on 0808 808 5555 where the team will be on hand to give you some support - open every week day from 10 till 3.

I am always around to help more, just to chat and to answer questions.
