Hi Group
After describing the start of my wifes journey as she is admitted to Worthing hospital last Monday to start he first cycle (3 x 90minute ) Chemo infusion treatment.
As if today she is two in and is showing no side affects he blood levels are high we walk every hour up amd down the ward she ia eating and drink well actually putting on weight this week.
Tomorrow is her last infusion and we expect her to deteriorate this week but we are positive that is the start of her recovery. I am trying to keep her positive the staff are positive including tbe doctors that her bloods are stable nuetrafills are up Heamaglobin still good with no drops. Weight and food intake good.
Why are we still scared? Why are we constantly seeking reassurance? I guess this is normal but knots in my stomach are always there.
Regards
John
Hi again John Merse1806f95263 …… this sounds very encouraging.
She is doing all the correct things….. keeping activity (walking) going is ever so important, if the bed monster is allowed to take over her he recovery will take much longer as her muscle mass will disappear.
My CNS told us not to sit around fretting about what side effect could happen……. not to look down the dark tunnel for ‘that’ train that was going to hit me……… she said to concentrate about being in the moment and if any issues do come along.
Corrie Ten Boom once said….. Worrying is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength - carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength
As you may remember I was treated for 2 very rare types of Lymphoma……. My main chemo infusions lasted 120+hrs 24/7 over 6 days/5nights. I had 6 cycles of this and honestly, alert from being sick once due to a bad food choice and some fatigue I was fine.
This was our mindset…..
