Hi everyone
I've recently been diagnosed with CML I'm 32 years old, married and expecting our first child (Boy) on the 7th November (very excited)!
I was diagnosed on 5th August 2021. Came as a massive shock as I'm sure it does to most. I went for blood tests due to Abdominal pains a week previous and within 12 hours of them blood tests, I was called into the Leicester Royal Infirmary Osbourne Building for further tests and a Bone Marrow Biopsy. Since then it's been a Whirlwind for me and my family...especially my poor Wife, who has been my absolute rock and unbelievably supportive given the circumstances with pregnancy also.
Anyway what I wanted to ask is if anyone had got any experiences of being on Dasatinib? I started my Treatment on the 9th August. I'm feeling OK, not great, a bit Nauseous and tired which I expected...constant Headache which I will be mentioning to my Consultant today in Clinic. Is this just the start of the side effects and will they get worse before they get better? I aware everyone reacts differently, but I just like to get as much info as possible really.
I think it goes without saying that positivity is definitely the way forward, because if we're not positive it'll just make this journey that whole lot harder. I hope everyone else in this group is trying to live their lives with the same outlook and it'd be great to maybe get to know some of you and share our experiences.
Take care everyone .
Luke
Hi Luke and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our blood cancer groups.
I don’t have CML but was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare incurable but treatable type of skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4a and although my blood cancer ‘type’ is different I have experienced most types of treatments used but not necessarily the exact same drug mix.
First congratulations on the imminent arrival of your first child…… get your sleep in now
Dasatinib
I used the search tool near the top of the page and found a few hits on this drug so have a go and see what folks are saying and as always you can hit reply and see if the folks are still around on the community.
My respiratory consultant (I also have asbestosis) who is a good friend always says a positive approach to going through cancer treatment can add a good 20% to outcomes , if we reduce stress our body can function better and deal with treatments more effectively.
There are a few new members in the CML group so let’s look for them to come along but as always I am around to help out or just to chat.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
