Hi Prinny and welcome to our group.
I’m sorry to read you’ve got a suspected diagnosis of cervical cancer-this will be a very difficult time for you.
I’m not recently diagnosed myself (I was diagnosed originally in 2018) but there have been a couple of ladies posting very recently who have just had a cancer diagnosis. Hopefully you’ll hear from them soon.
It’s a very anxious time for you at the moment, but hopefully it won’t be long until you have your pet scan. The results from this, along with the biopsy and mri results, will be discussed at an MDT meeting (multi disciplinary team meeting) where the medical staff discuss the best plan for your treatment.
Have you got anything to take for your current pain? Over the counter medication may be enough but if you’re struggling, your gp should be able to help with something stronger if needed.
If you can let us know when you have your results, we’ll be able to help more based on our own experiences. In the group, ladies have had a variety of treatments based on the staging of their cancer, so there will always be someone to help support you through.

Hi Linzann and welcome to our group.
I see you’ve been speaking with some of the other ladies in the group, and I’m glad you’re finding this helpful-it’s good to feel you’re not alone, especially when you’ve just had a difficult diagnosis.
Positive thoughts will really help too-I know it can be difficult sometimes to think positively, when you are waiting for some results and don’t have all the information you need, but hopefully once you have your petscan the results will come through quickly and you’ll be able to start your treatment.
It’s a scary time, but hold onto that hope! I’ve been through this cancer twice myself, and had some very challenging times, but always kept as positive mindset as I could, which helped me through. I’m now more than 7 years from my original diagnosis, and more than 6 years from my recurrence, and I’m doing well. There are lots of positive stories out there, so try to focus on them.

Wow that is amazing and really really good to hear, thank you for your positive words really means a lot
I am trying to stay positive the last 2 days I have been but on Monday I was a complete mess and this group reading lots of positive things has really really helped me like I never imagined it would im so glad I have joined. Can I ask how long after you start treatment do you start to feel ill does everyone feel ill or does it depend on the person? I am absolutely terrified and have no idea what to expect all I know is that I have kids and grandchildren to see grow up and I dont want this horrible disease to take that away from me xx
I had chemotherapy and radiotherapy as my first line of treatment. My main side effect was fatigue and I was never sick or nauseous at all.
I had some side effects which kicked in after 2 weeks of radiotherapy-radiation cystitis and diarrhoea, but I was given meds and creams to help, which they did.
Not everyone feels ill or has side effects on treatment-it very much depends on the individual and how they react. Go into treatment with an open mind would be my recommendation and don’t assume it will make you ill. I was bleeding heavily when I started my treatment and after 2 weeks of radiotherapy that completely stopped and never returned!
