I'm sorry to hear this. It's a terrifying time I know.
The appointment on the 12th should be where you get all the information you need about what is to come. Ask every question you have, perhaps write them down beforehand as your mind may well go blank when you get there!
I found it actually calmed me a bit, as I knew exactly what to expect and had a structure in place. It's very much 'one step at a time.' I think it's easier to just concentrate on what's coming up next, not the bigger picture.
I found coming on here really helped settle my nerves. We've been through it too and completely understand what you're going through. Ask us anything!
After the 12th you will know exactly what you're facing. It's a tough road but I found it passed by fairly smoothly. The professionals are there for you. As are we here.
Good luck, please let us know how it goes. You can do this! X
I’ve just finished treatment for stage 3b2, I had 11 chemo 25 radiotherapy & 3 Brachytherapy, it seems very daunting but it’s surprising how quick it goes. Good luck x
Hi thankyou for you reply, I went on the 12th and it wasn't as bad as I thought altho they said its gone to stage 4 as its gone to my lymph nodes, they said i will recieve my oppointment withing 2 weeks. Im a little scared but taking each day as it comes. Can I ask when I go in for treatment can I have anyone with me, my sister in law and partner will be coming with me I said you will prob just have to hang around as iv been told its an all day thing. Xxx
How did it make you feel, my kids are worried im going to loose my hair. And im nervous 2. How are you feeling know do you have the all clear xxxx sending my love thankyou for your reply.
It’s such a daunting time. I opted for the additional interlace chemo that was 6 sessions, I cold capped to save my hair, then done the standard 5 weekly chemos which thins your hair but you don’t lose it, 25 radiotherapy sessions was 5 days a week and then 3 Brachy. I finished 11 days ago, now I have to wait 3 months for a scan to find out if it’s been successful. Chemo is 4-5 hours, you can take someone with you and take drinks/snacks. Radiotherapy it’s quicker, and where I was treated you stay in over night for the Brachytherapy. None of the treatments were as bad as I expected x
Hi Yates
When I went through my treatment, I was able to have my partner with me for chemotherapy, which was a long day. Most patients at my hospital had someone with them so I hope you’re able to have that too-it’s good to have the company and someone to chat to.
You cannot have anyone with you while you have radiotherapy treatment, but the radio treatment itself is quick each day. My partner just stayed in the waiting area while I was treated.
Sarah xx
