Hi , I hope this is ok to post on here as I have not actually had a diagnosis. I had visited my doctor last Wednesday as my periods have been 2 weeks late more or less each month for the last year. Pain during sex and bleeding random times throughout the month. Also experiencing kidney and groin pain. My main concern was my late periods so when I had an internal examination I did not expect the doctor to tell me the left side of my cervix was irregular and that my left adenexa which I think is my fallopian tube was in her word slight fullness. She has fast tracked me to the gynaecologist oncologist and I have my colposcopy appointment next Thursday. Has anyone had that type of news before? I know I shouldn’t worry unless I need to but I am worried lol . Sorry if it’s all over the place I have never wrote in a chat room before. I am also 28 . Thanks for reading x
Hi Newhere and welcome to our group.
It’s absolutely fine for you to come here and post though you don’t yet have any diagnosis-lots of people come to the community looking for advice or reassurance, so you’re welcome to be here.
I haven’t had the same type of news as you’ve had, so I hope you don’t mind me replying here, but I can understand why you’re worried-you have been experiencing some symptoms and you don’t know why, but the good thing is that you don’t have to wait long for your appointment.
The colposcopy is basically a very good way to see the cervix clearly, and from that the gynaecologist should be able to determine if any more tests are required to find out what’s wrong.
Try not to worry too much for now-easier said than done, I know. But it’s best to wait till the specialist sees you, and meanwhile I’d advise staying away from dr google as that won’t tell you anything about you as an individual, and might worry you more.
Please let us know how you get on, and if there’s anything we can help with feel free to ask any questions. I hope there’s a less serious explanation than cancer for your symptoms, so will keep my fingers crossed! Take care.

Hi SarahH21 thank you for getting back to me and yes I have learnt my lesson about googling it . Found myself googling each detail but trying to ease my mind now. My main concern was the way she said that my cervix was irregular , saying that she would expect it to be around the whole cervix and not in just one area- that is not word for word just what I can recall. On my medical records she wrote fast track referral for suspected gynaecological cancer which just freaked me out. But maybe that is normal I’m not sure ?
I will keep you upstated. Nice to have someone to chat about it to xx
HiNewhere
I understand how scary it is seeing those words on your notes, but this is normal. The doctor doesn’t know what is wrong, and the fast track referral is the quickest way to be seen by a specialist. You’ve got your appointment quickly for next week, and that is a step closer to getting answers.
I’m around every day, and always happy to be there for a chat if you need a friendly ear or shoulder to lean on!
