Hello, I have had HPV for the last 4 years or so. Always need a colposcopy every 6 months. Have had CIN stage 2 and a number of biopsy procedures.
I was really hopeful that this time my immune system would get rid of it but that’s not the case. Just now waiting for an appt for my colposcopy, again.
Im generally ok with it all as it all preventative stuff, stopping ant cancer forming, but it’s having a bit of an emotional affect in my libido these days. Not sure if it’s just my age or the niggle in the back of my head that by having sex it isn’t doing me or hubby any favours.
For anyone who is worried about the procedure, don’t be. Yes it’s a tad embarrassing for us but the clinicians doing these procedures are consummate professionals.
Hi Cathie and welcome to the group.
I think it can be more difficult when we’re older to be able to suppress the hpv virus, and it’s only been tested for as the first check in the past few years, so you may have had it longer than you think.
The effect on your libido may be a psychological one, but you shouldn’t worry that having sex with hpv is an issue. Your husband will most likely have it too, but as there is no test for men there’s no way to know. Continuing to have sex doesn’t make things worse or cause any problems, so if you can stop worrying on that score it might help.
Have they considered doing removal of the CIN2 cells, given the persistence of the hpv and the fact these have not regressed? Maybe that would give you some peace of mind?
Sarah xx
Thank you Sarah, for your understanding. Yes I have Han CIN cells removed on two occasions previously. Las year just HPV and no abnormal cells so I was hopeful of further improvement this year. However they have detected HPV again and I’m just hopeful that the abnormal cells have not reoccurred.
I’ll let you know.
Ah, I see. Fingers crossed for no abnormal cells from this colposcopy!
