Hi I’m new to this group, I’m 2019 I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer at the age of 37. My treatment was a radical hysterectomy (leaving my ovaries if they were ok) which was successful. They removed the cancer, my recovery was awful with forming a collection and it becoming a infected. Anyway after what seem like a long 5 months I started to feel more like myself.
I have my reviews every 3 months now, during these reviews I have mentioned that I was struggling with constipation, pains in my tummy now and then, terrible mood swings and irritability. This has been ongoing but I’ve been offered counselling and laxatives. A month or so ago I noticed thick hairs growing out of my chin, different to the odd one or two I get and pluck out. So I mentioned this to my consultant he sent me for blood tests to check my hormone levels. These came back fine, so everyone was puzzled.
my doctor surgery called me a few days later to see how I was doing and had received the letter from my consultant about my constipation and asked if I needed anything on repeat prescription for it. I agreed to this and also told him about the concern I had for the hairs on my chin. He booked me an appointment to see him a few days later. So I went we talked and he looked at my chin, checked my blood results and said he was sending me for an ultrasound to check my ovaries.
so I attended my ultrasound on 13th March, I had been having some pain in my lower tummy a few days before so I thought I would mention this at my scan. Before I had chance to mention it to the radiographer she already was scanning over the area I was getting the pain and asked me if I’ve been having pain here. I said I had yes, she then said she couldn’t see my right ovary so had to do an internal scan to look closer this was still unsuccessful. After the scan had finished she told me that there was a growth on the left side (where I had the pain). She said she couldn’t be sure what it was but would write everything in the report. I said shall I speak to my cancer nurse about this, she said yes then I will be fast tracked.
so I spoke with my nurse on Monday she looked at the report, the froth is 41mm size. She has made me an appointment with my consultant this Thursday. I am so scared I don’t know what to do, I just feel like being in this group would help me a little.
sorry for the long story xx
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I know how worrying it is when you've had a cancer diagnosis and then something else happens as we always expect the worst. How did it go with your consultant yesterday?
x
Thank you for the welcome
I have not been referred for an MRI which is on Tuesday. So hopefully having a better look at it will give me some answers and but my money at rest. Xx
Do come back and let us know how it goes
