Hi how do I deal with having this forum of cancer squamous cell

  • Hi again

Thanks for joining us here, where we will be happy to help you through this. It can be a shock for any of us to get a cancer diagnosis, so I’m sure we can all identify with that.

Squamous cell cervical cancer is the most common form of the disease, so lots of us in the group have had this type of cancer and been through different kinds of treatment. I’m not sure from your post exactly the best way we can help, and what you’re looking for in terms of support, so I hope you don’t mind me asking a few questions which will help us get to know your situation.

How were you diagnosed, and what tests or scans have you had so far? Do you know the stage of your cancer? How are coping so far-for example are you having symptoms and pain you need help with? Treatment can be the same for different types of cervical cancer-for example my adenocarcinoma would have been treated the same if I’d had squamous cell cervical cancer.

It will help us help you if we can find out a little bit more from you, and I hope you’ll find it helpful to be part of the group.

  • Stage 1 diagnosed on Tuesday at hospital got to have a second lettz procedure called something I can't remember properly but don't know at moment when that will be

  • But am not going to be put to sleep only being numed

  • I know hearing the word cancer is awful, scary and horrible, but the good thing is that your cancer has been discovered at a very early stage if it can be dealt with by a LLETZ (Loop Excision of the Transformation Zone). This can only be done for an early stage cancer.

Hopefully this will be the only treatment that you need, and after the procedure is done you’ll be able to move on from this.

I hope you don’t have to wait too long to have this done, , but if you’ve got any other questions please feel free to ask.
