Hi All

How long does the recovery take. I had 5 weeks of radiotherapy and 3 lots of brachytherapy plus chemo. I had my last brachytherapy , will be 2 weeks ago this coming Wednesday.
I have constant cystitis feeling, I cannot stand the smell of food cooking so I am eating only pasta or toast, I feel sick constantly, weak and am always sleeping.
I am feeling so frustrated now as I have zero energy to do anything, simple things like getting a bath and fresh jamas on can put me back to sleep for 3 hours.
I know it’s early days but with Christmas approaching, I want to be able to join in family celebrations and have fun with my grandkids.
I am feeling so emotional as l convince myself each night tomorrow will be easier and it isn’t - it’s the same crap just a new day- the sickness all day everyday is really getting me down.
When does it start to ease?

  • Have you tried Windeeze tablets at all? They are available over the counter and might help with the wind pain.

  • Haaaa that’s how I was - counting the weeks for the loose stools to arrive but they never did. I had to call the hotline one day coz the wind was that bad in my chest I thort I was having a heart attack! The constipation and wind is a killer on top of all the other symptoms. I was even given enemas to bring home with me and they didn’t shift it.
I used to say to the doctor I feel like I’m trying to push a square through a circle, it just won’t come out haaa

i drink about 3 fybogels a day now aswell as 4 of them tablets a day - that helps but the day I forget to take them jeez- I’m back to square one and takes me days again.
No one seems to understand how miserable constipation makes u feel aswell as the discomfort.
I feel so happy that someone gets me and what I’m going through!

  • They told me to take 2 omeprozole a day but even with them the wind still comes.
It’s crazy , sometimes I get pain in my knee, rub my knee then belch haaa it’s as though my food does not digest it just produces bubbles of gas everywhere in my body.

  • Thats probably the best way to describe it hahaha, yeah its awful. I'm starting to get some sort of routine back now but its still not great . I'm scared to eat anything incase it bungs me up and I love my food x
