Hello, it’s been a while since I last visited. I came off for abit to get my head sorted after the cancer and having a radical hysterectomy last November. I had my check up yesterday and again after examination I bleed so my surgeon said she wants to do a biopsy from what she thinks is tissue granulation to make sure it’s not cancerous. Just wondering if anyone has had this? She said she could do it there and then but I’m in pain from just having an exam so I’ll be going to sleep to have it done. Any advice would be fab and sending love to everyone x Emma
Hi Em41
I don’t have the right experience to share as my surgery was different and I didn’t have any granulation issues. But there are a number of ladies who’ve had a radical hysterectomy, so they might be able to advise.
It sounds like your surgeon is just being thorough, and it will be a short process to get a biopsy under general anaesthetic done to hopefully get some reassurance.
I hope you’ve been ok since your surgery and recovered well. Are you feeling fine in yourself?
Let us know how you get on.
Sarah xx
Hi Em41
I hope you are doing well after your surgery.
At my first physical exam 3 months after my surgery I had some tissue removed too which my surgeon reassured me was most likely to be granulation tissue. I got my results quickly and it was confirmed it was just granulation tissue. I was glad it was removed as I’d had a bit of brownish discharge and once the granulation tissue was removed, that stopped. I felt fine afterwards. Hope all goes ok for youx
I’m doing really well it’s nearly been a year, but surgical menopause is just awful! All surgery went well and I’m doing good, bladder leaking slightly and still have stomach problems but overall I’m ok. I’m having MRI dvd a every 3mths and seeing my surgeon every 3mths too as my cancer was 1b3 so they said about radiotherapy and chemo but I felt at this time I didn’t want it so being well looked after.
oh that’s good to know, have you bled dunce they removed the tissue? How are you doing? Did you have the biopsy taken while awake? If so how painful was it? X
Hi Em41 I’m glad you are doing well and being well looked after. My operation was a year ago too. It was quite a slow recovery but I am feeling much better now. My bladder plays up (I struggle to go) and I have lymphoedema in my ankle when the weather is hot but overall I’m ok.
I had my granulation tissue removed whilst awake. My doc noticed it during my exam and just removed it there and then! It wasn’t what I was expecting when I went in but luckily I couldn’t feel it. I had no bleeding after and actually once it was removed I felt better (less pelvic ache). My exams have been ok sincex
Oh ouch! I got told I could get lymphoedema at any time but I’m very active so hopefully that’s helping. Oh really that’s interesting my surgeon said it would hurt was that by the vault you had the tissue granulation? Yeah I get a lot pelvic ache too. How you finding menopause?
oh blimey really? I can go to the toilet but it’s all the time I have a slight prolapse so bladder leaking slightly x
Yes it was by the vault. It all happened so quickly.
It took me 4.5 months to even feel the need to go to the toilet! I just had to try every 3 hours. Struggled to go (not emptying bladder fully) and had to self catheterise for a week but have had improvement over the year and I can go ok now with some pushing! This has lead to a moderate prolapse but I can cope with it. I’ve been offered cube pessaries or surgery in a year but I’ve decided not to. Have you been to urology for your bladder?
I feel like the menopuse has been ok. I was put straight on HRT patches after my op. I did notice dry skin and had to change some of my skin products but not too bad. I have put on a lot of weight even though I exercise regularly and I think this is menopause related! What symptoms do you have? Do you use HRT?x
Oh ok that’s where mine is, I’ve started bleeding so called my nurse straight away. It’s only just started to bleed now snd again. But hopefully have biopsy done next few wks. Did they remove the tissue?
see my bladder is the opposite I’m needed the toilet more often and sometimes can't hold it in! Which can be embarrassing I have a prolapse too.
im going n the Gel for HRT I was put on it next day after surgery. I’m using 4 pumps which is the max you can use.
symptoms for menopause are, I’m so emotional all the time I cry all the time which I’m not a cryer! Just ache everywhere, tiredness, hot flashes during the day and I can’t sleep. Awful anxiety which again I’ve never suffered from. My surgeon suggested antidepressants but I said I don’t need them I just need to work out how to deal with the menopause. What about you how you doing with it? We are the same aren’t we? I’m 42 x
My surgeon noticed the granulation tissue and removed it all. I don’t think there was much but I felt better afterwards and it was good that the discharge stopped.
Your bladder may improve still. I went through a phase of all of a sudden needing to wee when walking and would have to sit down to stop it. But weirdly at that point I could also not wee without pushing so it was like the bladder was confused! It has really improved now and drinking more water than other liquids has really helped.
Sorry you are having such a tough time with menopause symptoms. I wonder if taking a different type of HRT could help? I have found it difficult to know whether some things I experience are due to the menopuase or not. I seem to have up and down phases. I have weeks where I feel really good physically and mentally but then weeks where I feel rubbish physically and mentally. However my mental health has not been that great anyway for the last few years.
I am going to try and read a bit about menopause as I haven’t yet and have little knowledge. I have heard there is lots that can help as well as HRT so I need to look into it. I am 40 years old. Sounds like we have had some similar experiences. I hope you find something to helpx
Did they remove it while you were awake then all the tissue? That’s what’s causing me to bleed and have discharge. I’ve just got Dr Phillipa Kay menopause book so I’m going to start reading that. I exercise lots but my weight isn’t the problem it’s the feeling low and anxiety I hate.
always something isn’t there! I have a physio too which I see twice a mth so she helps with prolapse, diet exercise etc she’s amazing. Xx
