Awkward question

Hi,

I’m new here after recently being diagnosed with stage 2 and I was wondering for any women who had the symptom of foul smelling discharge.. did it go away?

I know it should probably be the least of my worries right now but it’s really starting to affect me, I’m always conscious of it and i feel like i can constantly smell it even when I’m just out of the shower. I start treatment soon.. radiation, chemo & brachytherapy and i was hoping if anyone could tell me if they had this problem and did it go away after treatment?

  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

I’m sorry to hear you are having this problem-it’s not something I suffered from myself at my 2b diagnosis, but maybe there are others in the group who can help. I was however bleeding and my consultant said this should stop 2 weeks into radiotherapy. He was absolutely right and it did! I hope you have the same effects from your discharge issue.

Please don’t worry about asking any questions you may have-it’s a concern for you and therefore it’s good to look for others who may have been through the same. I hope you’ll stick with us and feel free to post any concerns you have going through treatment. Many of us have been through it and can help support you through if you need any advice or just want some help.

    When is your treatment starting?

  • Hi Sarah,

thanks so much, this forum has been so helpful to me while i was going through the motions of scans etc. reading everyones posts.

I have an appointment with an oncologist this Thursday so I think i will get my plan & start date then. I’ll definitely ask the question in there but hopefully some of the lovely ladies on here can share their experience on the subject if they had the same issue.

  • I’m so glad you have found reading the forum helpful  and glad you have now joined in with us. You will be able to help others too with your experience in time.

I hope your oncologist can give you some advice at your next appointment, and that you get your plan in place. Meanwhile, hopefully your post will be read by others who can identify and give you some reassurance.

  • Hi Lee

I have just finished my treatment - I was diagnosed with stage 3 and had the chemo, radio and brachytherapy. I had similar symptoms prior to my treatment and all my symptoms have now gone (touch wood). Yes I had some side effects but luckily am navigating  them quite well.
please do reach out if you have any questions , there is great support available on the forum xx

  • Hi

I don’t think I’ve seen you in the group before, so welcome! Good to read that you are through the treatment and you’re coping with the side effects.

Hope you’ll stick with us and be able to pitch in with any of the discussions you’d like to join.

  • Hi Lee1990.

I also had foul discharge for months leading up to my initial GP appointment where I was fast tracked and I can honestly say after 2 weeks of treatment it went away so I was willing to endure anything to get rid of it so good luck. Angela xx

  • Hi All,

I know this is an old post of mine but I just wanted to give an update for anyone who has this question in the future. I am now heading into week 5 of chemo & radio and by the end of week 3 all foul smells and discharge have left the building!

  • Hi Sarah,

I’m finding it okay thanks, some symptoms like ear ringing & diarrhea but no major complaints! The tablets are really helping with nausea so that’s good! 2 weeks left now and then onto 3x brachytherapy so the end is in sight.

hope all is good with you!

  • Hi

That all sounds very positive and I remember myself how good it was to be able to see light at the end of the tunnel!

Hope you’ll let us know how you get on-I had a check up 6 weeks after treatment and an mri at 3 months out. Hope everything goes well for you.
