Hi all. I'm 2 years out of treatment for Stage 2b cervical cancer. Had 25 radiotherapy sessions, 5 chemotherapy and 5 brachytherapy. In terms of side effects, I've been really lucky. The biggest issue I have had is damage to the rectum which caused me alot of pain when I finished treatment. That was until a few days ago. I am suffering with the most horrendous burning sensation in my urethra. I'm on antibiotics for what the doctor thinks is a UTI but I'm not convinced. Has anyone else had this feeling? It doesn't really burn when I urinate but afterwards and there's a pressure feeling that comes in waves. Thank you for your help.
Hi Taffy76 and welcome to the group!
I’m sorry to read you have this problem, but in your shoes I would contact your CNS and see if you can be seen by your consultant. Even 2 years out, you should still be under their care and be able to be checked by a gynae rather than a gp.
Hopefully it is just a uti and the antibiotics will help, but it’s always sensible I think to be checked by a specialist just in case you need some further checks which the gp can’t do.
Please let us know how you get on, and feel free to post or join in any discussions. We have a lovely group of supportive women here and it’s a safe place to share concerns and get advice.
