Hiliday with CC

Hi all,

I saw my cancer nurse yesterday and she told me that as far as she is concerned I can go on my holiday which I have had planned and paid for for quite a while as she deems me fit to travel and as long as the specialists I see Monday also agree then I can travel as planned to Turkey on the 5th of August and return 14th August.

My question is have any of you ladies travelled abroad with CC and if so what insurance company did you use? Or didn't you?

I am wanting to be covered, I have been measured and recieved special flight socks already from my cancer nurse.

Thanks jemma Purple heart

  • Hi Jemma I finished treatment for stage 2b in September 21. I have had 2 post treatment scans which show small area which they think is scar tissue but haven't been told NED as yet. I travelled to Spain in May this year for 10 days. I got insurance from Insurancewith. It was a detailed online form where I declared my CC. The cost was around £30.

Hope you have a lovely holiday Turkey is gorgeous been there many times.

    Take care xx

  • Hi and welcome to our group.

You haven’t given us much information, so it’s more difficult to give advice-have you finished treatment, are you still going through treatment?

When I first went abroad it was within 6 months of being given a NED result, so I wasn’t able to get cover for my cancer with my own insurance company, but did have cover for everything else that wasn’t cancer connected. After 6 months clear, my cancer was also covered.

I would recommend looking around for insurance and calling the company rather than filling in forms online. There is a group here in the community with travel insurance recommendations so you may want to have a look through that.

If your doctor is fine about you going, then that’s good! You may need a letter to confirm you are fit to fly, but the insurance company will let you know when you discuss your circumstances with them. Have a lovely holiday!

    Sarah xx
