Hi
I was diagnosed with cervical cancer last week and had my MRI yesterday my case will be discussed on Tuesday at the MDT meeting then hopefully will know the plan either Wednesday or Thursday I'm really finding it hard to stay positive as I keep thinking the worst. Any advice on how I can try and change my mindset from negative to positive please x
Hi Tarra40.
I'm so sorry you find yourself here, it's a huge shock to our system when we get a diagnosis of cancer. It takes a while to get your head round it all. But things seem to be moving very quickly for you!, That's a positive, the very worst thing about this process is the waiting, for scans, tests, appointments, and results, once you have a treatment plan things will settle down as you will be doing something rather than just waiting, your sense of being able to control things will begin to come back. There's a fantastic support network on here, we can come here and moan about the unfairness of cancer and anything else that you feel. It's also a great place to read other people's stories and feel a part of something. Our community champion is Sarah and she will most likely be along soon to reply to you, she's a good source of information and a great listener!
Sending positive vibes.

Hi Tarra40 and welcome to our group!
I see our lovely Angela has responded to you with good advice! Having a plan will help hugely-you’ll get some control and focus on what needs to happen and what you need to do. It’s awful, horrible being told you have cancer, and we know what that’s like. Please try your best not to think of any worst case scenarios before you know anything-though I know that’s difficult and our minds go crazy at the start,
You don’t know much at the moment, so try and think positive thoughts. My mantra from the start was “ I will be well”. Every single day I said that out loud.
Please stick with us and we will help you with our experiences. We have a lovely group here, all supporting each other, so please feel free to ask any questions, talk to us and we will help support you through this.

Thank you Angela for your reply. It's so true the waiting is awful ! I will try and be more positive till I know more xx
Hi Tarra40.
We all worry even tho it dosent change the outcome..I think it's more to do with our lives have just been turned upside down and we lose control of everything and we just rely on consultants and their teams to tell us what the next step is! It's a frightening time. I've finished treatment and had final MRI to see if it worked as well as they hoped, so I'm still worrying and waiting lol.. it's totally natural but I come on here and do a bit of ranting then I try not to let it take over my life. Sometimes just voicing our fears helps to alleviate them a tiny bit so don't be afraid to write wotevers on your mind..it really does help.
