I have Just found out today, it hasn’t sank in. I can’t seem to process it to be honest. I don’t know what stage as waiting on the MRI and waiting for the meeting to discuss treatment plan. I am 34, I have 3 children so just feel sick with worry.

I hope you ladies are doing ok Heart

  • Hi Cl4ire123.

I'm realy sorry to hear about your diagnosis. And everyone here will agree this is the hardest part of this process. The uncertainty and the waiting is very difficult to come to terms with. I can assure you once you get your stage/grade and a treatment plan in place, things will be much better. At the minute you probably feel you have no control over anything and that's also normal but your team will give you lots of information and support once your plan is clear. The ladies on here will also give you fantastic support as we've all "been there and done it".  We swop stories and experiences on here which is so helpful, so keep chatting and ask any questions you need to.

  • Hi Cl4ire123 and welcome to the group.

I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis, and we can all identify with the shock you will be feeling and how hard it is at first to process this. But this is a good place to come for advice and support as between us we have a lot of experience of the various treatments and stages of this cancer.

Things are out of your control right now, as you don’t have all the information you need, so this is a particularly difficult part of the process. Are you actually waiting for the mri, or waiting for the results of it? If you’ve only been diagnosed today, I’m assuming you are actually waiting for your scan appointment.

The mri, and possibly other scans, will give your team all the information they need to plan your treatment, and what happens next will depend on the stage of cancer identified. Surgery, ie a hysterectomy, will only be possible for an early stage cancer, and any cancer which is beyond early stage is typically treated with chemo and radiation. The treatment for all stages follows standard recognised guidelines with minor tweaks for each individual.

Try not to let your worry get the better of you while you are waiting for more information, though I appreciate this is very difficult. We all tend to assume the worst when we hear the word cancer, but treatment can be very effective. I was diagnosed more than three and a half years ago, had treatment,  and have been through a recurrence 9 months after my original diagnosis, I am still here and doing well, so it’s not always as bad as we think!

Keep posting to let us know how you are getting on-you can ask any questions here and you will get support. Many of us have already been through this and come out the other side, so we can help you.

    Sarah xx
