Hi guys
I had a wrong diagnosis of early stage cervical cancer on 6th Jan and sent for a mri at clatterbrdige to make sure not spread.
To then be told biopsy was inconclusive so needed to take another and this one showed only cin 3 precancerous cells.
So yo say head been all over the place was understatement. So asked to go back and talk to consultant..she was very apologetic and surprised it wasn't early stage cancer but said that when they took the second biopsy by loop excision they removed alot of the cells but she can't guarantee they have all been removed as there was still precancerous cells in the margins.
She is booking in for a smear end of June to check everything then to see if all been removed but I'm not hopeful with there being cells I'm the margins of my biopsy.
She did an internal and said its left me with a short cervix but since the appointment (end of march)I've had really bad back pain and the odd day of bleeding which lasts only a day.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this or had precancerous cells still show up on next smear and if so what were the next steps
Many thanks
Emmsie
Sorry for the long message
Hi Emmsie and welcome to the group!
I’m not surprised your head has been all over the place getting different news like that. I haven’t got any direct experience to share as I went straight to a cancer diagnosis when I was referred.
What I can say is that it’s not uncommon to fail to get clear margins after the loop and have a follow up to check, which is what you’re having. Sometimes the loop is enough, and ladies find when the go for follow up that all is well and the treatment has actually cleared everything.
If the precancerous cells are still there it can be possible to have a further loop treatment, but that can depend on how much of your cervix is still there.
Sorry I can’t give you direct experience, but maybe some other ladies will come along and post if they’ve had similar. Best wishes for a successful follow up, and please let us know how you get on.

Thank you for your response.
The consultant did they say that she didn't think they'd be able to perform another loop excision that they would find it extremely difficult as alot had been removed with the first.
I'm worried about the back pain I'm experiencing atm and wondering if this is still normal?
Sorry, I can’t answer about the back pain as I’ve only dealt with cancer rather than CIN and the loop, but maybe you should go back to your doctor about this? It’s a bit of a wait till the end of June.
