How Are We All Today?

Morning ladies

How are we all doing today? It’s a beautiful crisp spring day here and so nice to see the sun and blue skies. Just need a bit of warmth now!

We are back on the 2 week pathway in this house, but not for me this time. I’m refusing to be worried at this point-plenty time for that if and when there is something to worry about. Tests already done and a small op under general in just over a week. I’m hopeful everything will be ok, and whatever it is we can’t change the result. If it’s not so good, then I’m grateful I am much stronger physically now and better able to handle things. Always look for the silver lining! Fingers crossed though.

Hope those of you in treatment are all feeling ok, and getting enough rest. I’m going to go and warm myself up by getting some housework done-not very exciting-but a friend kindly sent me a new book through Amazon so I’m going to put my feet up and start that this afternoon.

Hope you all have a good day ladies!

  • Also Angela, the brutal anesthetist left a very angry hole in my back with bruising so my back was very sore and I think that played a major part in generally feeling unwell last week xxx

  • Hi Angela, it seems a bit daunting when it's all ahead of you but when the time comes, you just get through it just like any other week.  You will be fine.  You're doing amazing, strong and positive and just taking everything in your stride.  And we'll all be here with you! xxx

  • Hi Sarah,  yes it's all over.  Finally home and do not have to go back now for a while.  I'm actually not feeling bad at all and although I'm a regular visitor to "the little room", it's not liquid anymore!!  Also at my last brachy I got handed the dreaded dilators.  Just can't seem to get away from that subject.  Ho hum.  As somebody said, this disease just keeps on giving!!GrinGrinDisappointed relieved  Thank you for all your support and advice through this, you have been a rock and not just to me but to everybody.  God bless you!  I hope all turns out well for you xxx

  • Morning Julie

Well done on being done! You’ve been brilliant getting through and a great help to other ladies coming up behind you. I remember that plastic box-mine was purple-which discreetly held those lovely dilators all stacked inside each other like those Russian dolls!

I know a lot of ladies don’t like them-I certainly didn’t- so they bought nicer, silicone ones from one of those websites I’m sure I shouldn’t mention on here! Joy

It can be a struggle to use them, being so clinical, but I honestly recommend it. The stories of women who didn’t, and closed up down there would curl your hair! I had to force myself to do it, but had no issues with internal exams afterwards so it is very helpful. I recommend lots of lube! Mine of course are now in the bin! Joy

Glad to hear you’re feeling ok, my main issue afterwards was tiredness..my visits to the loo became much better quite quickly and  I felt much better within a couple of weeks of treatment ending.

    Well done!

  • Thanks Sarah, I will definitely try to use them but I don't have to think about it for "two to three weeks"....so I won'tRoflGrinRofl  But thanks for the very good advice for them.  Have a lovely day, weather glorious here but caught my partner's cold so feeling a bit gruff!! Unamused Hope you're well xxxHeartHeart

  • Hi Julie

I was given mine to start using while I was still in treatment, so consider yourself lucky you don’t have to think about them for a couple of weeks! Joy

Hope you are not laid up with your cold-I can’t even remember the last time I had one, but it’s at least 4 years, and no covid at all!

I had a bit of a thoughtful day yesterday-it was the 2 year anniversary of my total pelvic exenteration surgery so I had a lot of thoughts going round in my head. Kept busy by cleaning out the fridge, sweeping floors and doing washing! How exciting!

  • Hi Sarah and thanks, feeling somewhat better today, felt foul yesterday with very sore throat and headache!  Congratulations on the second anniversary of your surgery but I can understand why it makes you thoughtful....Keeping busy is always good therapy and now your house is totally clean!  Talking of which, I need to tackle my fridge before longConfusedConfusedGrin.  Hope you have a restful day today and a relaxing weekend.  Hopefully with some sunshine xxx

  • Hi Julie

Definitely having a nice relaxing day today and hope you are too. I don’t have any jobs to do, and even have tidy kitchen cupboards! Keeping busy is the way to go, and it feels good to have everything in its place. I’ve had a lovely phone call with a friend and not planning anything more strenuous this afternoon. Joy

Have a lovely weekend and look after yourself.

  • Hey Sarah

Hope this week is going well for you.  According to the weather, in our area anyway, the weekend is supposed to be wall to wall sunshine!!VV  I have a quick question - have you heard of the bladder being weaker after treatment as I only seem to be going about 5 to 5 and a half hours overnight again whereas I was managing around 6 and a half to 7 hours before I finished treatment.  Just curious more than anything! Sending smiles and hugs xxx

  • Hi Julie

Waiting for the rain to start shortly here! Yes, unfortunately, I know loads of ladies who have had bladder changes to different degrees after treatment-it’s really very common, as the radio can be very damaging to surrounding organs. I was always up in the night a couple of times for a wee when I had a bladder, and was the same during and after treatment. Up and down!

Things might improve as you recover, so I’d see how it goes. I know you can get medication for an overactive bladder, but for me going 5 hours would have been a miracle and I’d have been delighted! Joy
