I have stopped having cancer treatment for 2 years. I have appointment next week checkup , during covid my oncologist has been calling me every 2 months. I have been told that they can't preform a smear test due to having radiotherapy treatment. What will I expect from my appointment. Anyone else had a smear after radiotherapy???

I didn’t have a smear after finishing radiation- the radiation means that the results can be difficult to interpret. My post treatment check ups involved a discussion of how I was feeling, pelvic examination, checking of groin lymph nodes. Th consultant did an internal exam with his fingers and a visual check. x
Hi. The pelvic exam was literally like a smear test. So he put the speculum in, had a look, then felt round inside with his fingers. Then a little feel round my tummy on the outside and groin area. x
Hi again Scotia. It’s pretty much like having a smear test. The doctor will insert the speculum, have a visual check and then check inside with his fingers. Then it’s a gentle feel round of the tummy and groin area on the outside. Doesn’t take long at all. xx

I’m not sure what you mean by HPV x 3. I’ve never heard of this term before. High risk HPV can cause changes to cervical cells, but these changes are not necessarily cancer, and having HPV itself does not mean that you have cancer. Can you perhaps give a little more information? For example have you had an abnormal smear test result?
There are various degrees of abnormal cells which can be identified, and have levels graded from 1 to 3. I wonder if you have been told that you have abnormal cells? I’ll be able to help you more if you can give me a little more info.
