Yesterday I received my cervical screening results

HPV positive with abnormal cells that require treatment and put on the 2 week pathway for colposcopy

After speaking to my GP this morning, she has confirmed the smear found aggressive cancerous neuroendocrine cells.....I am absolutely terrified, I have 2 young children and I'm fearing the worst

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I had a different type of cancer but I do understand how frightening it can be waiting for results of tests, etc and it's natural for your mind to wander to the worse-case scenario. You might find this article on how to ease worry when waiting for medical results useful.

If I've read your post correctly you haven't yet had the colposcopy which is a test that looks closely at the cervix if abnormal cells have been found during your cervical screening. If the colposcopy finds abnormal cells then you may have treatment to remove or destroy them. Clicking here will take you to Macmillan's information on treatment for abnormal cervical cells.

Do come back and let us know how you get on when you have the colposcopy.
