Hello, I have been having HPV issues for over 10 yrs. I had to have hysterectomy due to CIN3 that never went away. Then I started having high grade on my vagina wall for a few years(had a couple of times surgery) then turned into cancer. After cancer treatment (cancer is gone), started having high grade on my vulvar. I have had 5 times surgery to remove those pre cancer cells, but still coming back in a couple of months.
My gyoncology said my body can not fight against HPV somehow, he does not know why. I do not smoke, drink or anything and usually healthy person( I am 46 yrs) I have tried cream and trial laser surgery but nothing helped. I am just wondering if there is someone like me.

Hello Kuma
Sorry to hear that you have been through so much and it sounds as though you are finding it very difficult and frustrating. I have not been through as much as you but I have learned quite a lot about HPV on the information pages of the Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust web pages and their helpline and forum are also useful for support and finding others who are going through the same or have similar experiences. The Eve Appeal is another charity which offers information and support to women with cc cin vin & vain. There are Ask the expert pages too on both websites and a MacMillan nurse on here or on the MacMillan helpline may be able to give you more information and advice. I am not medically qualified but from what I understand 80% of people contract HPV but most people manage to fight it into dormancy within 2 years. Even doctors are not sure why some peoples' immune systems do not do this and have what is known as persistent HPV. Looking after your immune system with a healthy diet etc helps and so does safe sex although this does not give you 100% protection. If your partner has persistent HPV then you could be passing it back and forth so he/she should also look after his/her immune system. Always attending screening and appointments as you seem to have done is also very important. I also take vitamin D vitamin C and zinc every day. It's really difficult dealing with the emotional side of this and so just having a rant on a forum may also help you. I hope this information is helpful. There are other ladies on MacMillan on the section vulva cancer who may also be able to help you.

Hi Jane,
Thank you for your reply. I usually go to vulva and vaginal groups, but I thought this group has more folks. I have learned about HPV, but I am not able to find right answer. Thank you for the websites, I went to the two sites but unfortunately I do not live in UK, so I am not able to send email or phone. (I live in USA) I am going to have lab work in two weeks to see if my vitamin level are good.

Hi Kuma
I hope the websites helped you. I understand that because you live in the USA it is not possible to e-mail the Ask the expert or phone but there are ladies from the USA on the Jo's Trust forum so although they are not qualified to give you medical answers you may find more people to give you emotional support or share ways they have looked after their immune systems if you join the forum. I am not on the Eve Appeal forum but you may also find support there as it covers all gynaecological cancers and cell changes.
Hope you are coping with the lockdown
Take care

Hi again Kuma
Have you tried the Ask a nurse service on MacMillan? They are obviously medically qualified to answer your questions about HPV
Hope you have a good weekend

Hi Jane,
Thank you for the all information, appreciate it. I bookmarked Jo's forum and did ask a nurse on MacMillan, waiting for a reply. I just had my 5th laser surgery last week, healing well. I will go back to see a doctor in six months to see if they are coming back again or not.
