Hey guys.

I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2018.

treatment went well and everything has been going well. Recently I had a smear which came back abnormal for the first time since treatment. I was due to have a colposcopy under my oncologist but now the Covid crisis has meant my appointment was frozen. Is anyone else in the same boat?! It’s absolutely awful trying to deal with the unknown. I’m 26 and my fertility is very important to me and preserving what I can. I’ve tried private clinics but no luck as they’re all not seeing patients. Is anyone aware of anywhere local to Manchester that is still doing examinations. It’s so hard to deal with never mind not knowing when anyone will Be able to have their appointments. Xxx

  • Hello bettyboosha

If you look at my profile you will see that I don't have the same history as you but I do have a colposcopy appointment in June. I had a phone call from the hospital this week to say that they had initially cancelled my appointment due to COVID but that it is now back on. I then received the cancellaton letter in the post & also a new appointment letter for June. I think the hospital has been overwhelmed with COVID & of course some staff have been redeployed for a while. I think they weigh up the risks to each individual patient too when looking at appointments. Now that more testing for COVID is available to key workers you may find that they unfreeze your appointment soon. Do you know about Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust? They are a great source of support as well as MacMillan. It's stressful isn't it? I think it is also really stressful for the hospital staff.

I hope you hear about your appointment soon
