Hells everyone. Not sure if this is the right place to be but am basically looking for a bit of advice.
I am a 27 year old female. I had my first smear just before turning 25 and all was fine.
However I’ve had a few symptoms that have started to worry me a little. It started off with constant lower back pain, I put it down to my job and made no pass it. Following on a month or so I began finding bald spots in my hair, doctor said it was alopecia but no particular cause and see how it goes. Back pain still continued and every so often I began to get numbness in my left leg for couple of moments then it goes. I started looking visibly thiner and in the last 5 months have gone from a 12/14 dress size to an 8 without any diet changes.
my ovulation began to get more painful and my discharge had increased over the last 5 months. It doesn’t have an unual colouring to it just very watery. But I put that down to hormonal changes due to stress. I’ve had reoccurring utis which I’ve never suffered with in the past. And also thrush. So I got myself tested for vaginal infections including sexual and all came back clear.
I’ve begAn tracking my periods and they have become slightly irregular over the last 5 months. My cycle has become longer from 28 to 32-35. One month I didn’t bleed at all. but the length of my periods have gone from 2 days (my usual period length) to five/6. In my last two periods I have been experiencing blood clots which has never happened to me before.
I had bloods taken with regards to my alopecia and my iron levels were extremely low as a result an currently on iron tablets and my full blood count showed neutrophillia.
my question is, could this possible be signs of cervical cancer even though I had a clear screening two years ago? And do I encourage my doctors to do further investigation?
Apologises for the long winded explanation.
Sorry I forgot to add. I have a continuous ache in my lower abdomen similar to full period cramps. I put it down to utis. There’s a increase in need to urinate. And I have a burning sensation and ‘dryness’ my feeling that stays for a few weeks each month.
Hi I can relate to all the symptoms and I would encourage your dr refer you to the gynecologist. If I had not been persistent they would be still palming me off with ibs and putting my back pain down to being at a desk for my job. I am not insinuating it is cancer as I’m not a dr but I will always encourage people to keep on at the dr as I did which resulted in me being diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer in November 2019. I’m starting treatment Friday and the staff have been amazing hope your is better news and you get the answers to your concerns xx
Hi Starlight,
I would definitely push for your GP to look maybe at colposcopy and have a closer look at your cervix. I was diagnosed last January and had some of the symptoms you are describing, not to worry you at all but a friend of mine had some of the symptoms you described and she had ovarian cancer so might be worth mentioning both of these to your GP also? Also just to add a smear test isn’t a full on test for cervical cancer, I had mine 11 months before being diagnosed with a 4cm tumour that my surgeon believed to have been developing for a decade.
Mira always worth trusting your instincts and pushing for extra tests, hope your well xx
