Hi all, my 1st time checking out & using a forum... I start radiation therapy on Monday. I need any advice for the back pain, I can't stand it anymore. It affects everything & I'm so very tired. I try to forget or just be ok with everything for a moment but the constant pain just keeps bringing me back. I use a mix of Co-codamol & paracetamol or Ibuprofen & paracetamol depending on how bad it is but they barely help to be honest. I've tried deep heat, tiger balm etc & they feel great for all of 2 minutes & I run out in the space of 2 days (besides my skin won't cope once I'm receiving treatment).
Any suggestions? Hope your all doing as okay as can be given the circumstances x
Dear leaT, has anybody raised the possibility of OxyContin as a form of pain relief, it comes in two forms including a slow release version, obviously you wouldn’t need it on a daily basis but if you have uncontrollable pain it might be a solution. Talk to your consultant and your gp, it’s not good to suffer in silence. The problem with severe back pain is it effects every thing you do in your daily life to the point where you can’t think of anything else but the pain your in. I have used OxyContin at various time during my illness and did not find it addictive as it only works if the pain is actually present. I see from your profile you have had a very difficult time recently and waited a long time for a diagnosis, once you get this pain under control you will feel more positive and better able to cope with your situation.
