14 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 2b cervical cancer. After months of scans and tests to make sure it hadn't spread (which it hadn't) I started treatment. After 5 chemo, 25 radiotherapy and 4 brachytherapy I thought I was all done. Follow us were showing the tumour no longer active and continually shrinking.
Unfortunately now although the tumour is still shrinking I have just been told that it has spread to my bones. They have now saw in my latest PET scan 'activity' on my vertibrae and one of my ribs. With any luck after my next lot of really strong chemo and immunotherapy i can be done with this disease.
I'm very much devastated and in the huff with my body at the moment. I had just started university came to terms with being on hrt for life and thought and hoped that it was done and dusted.
X Thanks for reading if you got this far, if anyone want to talk about what I've been through or has experienced what I'm gonna go through. Please message. X JEN X
Hi Jen, I’m sorry to hear your diagnosis hasn’t gone the way you wanted or expected. Can I ask how you found out it had spread? Did you have symptoms or did you have follow up scans as routine?
I was also stage 2b, never had any symptoms to start with and I’m now terrified of it returning without me knowing x
Hi Suzie,
I was having regular scans. My last mri made the docs question my cervix so they sent me for a Pet scan to have a better look and that was when she saw the spread.
No I haven't had any symptoms that I know off, I have asthma and have had 2 kids so they can't be sure I'd have recognised the symptoms anyway.
Even if it makes you sound like a hypochondriac get everything checked if you're worried. I was terrified as well but tried to get on with life in the hope that it didn't spread..
They say this is unusual anyway as the original tumour is gone and the treatment did what it was supposed to in that area. Just unfortunately for me some cells sneaked away and made home elsewhere.
Best wishes, keep your chin up and enjoy each day. Xxx
Thank you so much for your reply, I’m so sorry that yours isn’t better news.
I hope that you are feeling well, and that your current treatment plan is working xx
