I wonder if anybody on this site can advise please?  I was treated for Cervical Cancer from August to October 2018.  On the 5th February this year I was told that I was in remission.  I had a follow up appointment after having an MRI  and all was good.  I have another follow up appointment in two weeks time and wonder, as I haven't had an MRI  lately and the cab fare is £50, is there any reason to keep this appointment?  I was originally told that every three to six months i would have an MRI and then an appointment with the Oncologist.  Do you think I slipped through the net with regards the MRI?

  • Hi

That's great news that you're in remission from cervical cancer and just having follow-up care now.

The best person to ask whether you have been missed for an MRI scan would be your CNS. She can check your records to see when you should be having them.

It's important to go to your follow-up care appointments as the consultant may wish to examine you as well as talk to you about how you are feeling. If you are considering cancelling this appointment because of the cost of getting to the hospital do give your CNS a call and explain this to her. You may be able to claim a refund on the cost or there may be voluntary organisations in your area that will take you to and from hospital.

  • Hello Latchbgook, thanks for your reply.  It turns out it was my 6 monthly Check up which I attended and pleased to find that all is good and no sign of any Cancer.  I wil! Be having a CT Scan in October to check stomach and chest are clear.
