im here with a dodgy womb but from being around the gynae groups here for nearly two years now there is no pattern to symptoms, the only way to know what's happening is to test the tissue in the lab. Some folk pass through with lots of symptoms and get the all clear, others have slight symptoms and have cancer, and vice versa. 

After visiting your gp the next step is usually an ultrasound then seeing the gynaecologist who will take a medical history and examine you. It might not be in that order though, different places do different things. They might give you a colposcopy, you can read about them at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/colposcopy/ 

From the colposcopy you should hopefully get a final diagnosis 

Did they tell you what will happen on the 1st? 

I know how terrifying it is waiting to know what's happening though, I've had a few scares since my op. If you want to talk to a medic about things the helpline have some nurses, or you could try the ask an expert section of the website.

Hi Arla.  

Thank you for your reply.  It is a Colposcopy i have to go for.  I only attended my GP last week as i had irregular bleeding and leg pain, he took a smear test there and then and sent off the urgent referral, i seen my GP on the tuesday and by the saturday the letter came in the post for the appointment for the Colposcopy.  I just feel really anxious at the urgency of the apointment.  I am back at the GP tomorrow for blood tests as i couldn't bring myself to let him take bloods last week, i am regretting that now as i may have got the blood results back a little sooner, am i right in saying that the bloods may show some abnormalities if there were any?

All my bloods shown was that I was anaemic, it was no surprise as I'd had pretty constant bleeding. I'm not sure if they can detect anything else but you could check with the gp tomorrow. I had my diagnosis long before I got my smear results back, they took months, so it's good you don't have to wait for them before seeing someone. It's also great that you are going straight for a colposcopy, you should get answers pretty quickly. I went to my gp in Feb and was diagnosed with womb cancer in June and surgery in august. I'm fine now thanks, just needed the surgery and I'm coming up to my two year check up, anxiously waiting on an MRI scan before my appointment in august, been waiting since February as I've to have a routine scan.  So we can wait together, waiting is always the worst part, I try carrying on as normal but there is always the nagging doubt in the back of my mind, winding me up. 

in the womb group our usual phrase is that the common (non cancerous) things are more common, I try to remember that.
