Clinical Trials

Had results from PET scan and appointment with oncology.  I am at stage 2b cc and it hasn't spread.

However I have asked if I want to take part in Interlace clinical trials which may involve having 6 weeks of introduction chemo before the standard chemoradiaton treatment.  Anyone else gone through this or considered it?

  • Hi

I was also stage 2b and was offered the Interlace trial, but I decided against it and just went ahead with the standard chemoradiation. I can’t remember seeing anyone posting about being on the trial, but by replying to your post it will push it back up in the discussions and hopefully if someone has experience of it they’ll come on and tell you about it.

  • After carefully consideration I have decide to go ahead with the clinical trial.  As this will only improve treatment for future generations.

They have done the randomisation selection and I have been selected for Introduction Chemo (6 x weekly sessions) Before the standard chemoradiation treatment

This will now mean 13 weeks of treatment instead of 7.

In addition to more treatment you have more monitoring and even more support from the trials nurses.

All to start in the next 2 weeks.

  • That’s excellent !

Let us know how you get on when you start the induction chemo. Your experience will help other ladies here.

  • Introduction chemo will start next Thursday.  I will update on progress.

If going through this extra treatments helps inform treatment decision in the future it will be worth it (so I think at the moment so watch this space on updates).

  • Evening.  Two sessions of Intro Chemo now done and with scalp cooling.

The side effects rhay i have been experiencing is heartburn, constipation, a little fatigue and of course greasy hair (as shod wSh your hair more than twice a week)  All side effects are being managed.

Due to being on the trial, they have made sure my chemo is first thing in the morning, as the trials team want to see me every week.

  • Hi

The close monitoring is the really good thing about being on any trial. And the side effects are dealt with as you go along. I hope the scalp cooling is effective for you too.
