Hi Ladies

I hope you are all ok. I have seen a few people asking in threads how I have got on with my second scan results (I can’t find the thread now so writing this)

So, I was waiting 4 weeks for this scan result however week 2 of this waiting process I started showing symptoms. Cut a long story short I was given an emergency appointment, and from there told that the MRI highlighted some abnormalities. From there another PET scan was called for to which it confirmed that yes, it’s back and sadly not curable.

My oncologist has discussed maintenance treatment which I am still trying to get my head round and weigh up the pros and cons so to speak!

Right now I feel beaten, sad and angry all rolled into one. I am awaiting info being sent from the oncologist so I can fully look into the options and decide the right thing to do, that’s if my head can even process it.

Thank you all for kindly asking how I am, sadly it’s not a positive outcome which has broken my heart.

  • Hi Jen

So sorry to hear about your latest scan results it's something we all live with but hope will never happen. I too finished treatment for stage 2b adenocarcinoma in September 21. Had scan in November which showed something still.there oncologist not sure if residual cancer, inflammation or scar tissue. Second scan February 22 showed area had reduced oncologist happy to leave until July so no NED as such. Overall I am feeling well, treatments today for cancer of all stages have improved so much so fingers crossed you'll get started soon and you cope well.

    Take care xx

Ps I am.also in Scotland Edinburgh

I had 8 weeks on chemo on it’s own to shrink the tumours. I then had 5 weeks of chemo/radio then 2 brachytherapy’s. I’m 40. Yep I want to fight as hard as I can, just need to get stronger

My symptoms this time round were a very sore lower back, fatigue and very slight bleeding. I start this chemo next week

it’s a hard journey for sure

    Hi AF55

Thank you. Sorry to hear you are in limbo however feeling well has to be a good sign. I didn’t feel well. From the MRI findings my oncologist wasn’t convinced there was re-occurrence however he called for a PET which confirmed.

You are not far from me, about an hour pending on the bridge and bypass mind you Rofl

  • Jen, in my personal experience, they do not “re stage”. Mine has always been called “recurrent cervical cancer”. So numbers are not something I would focus on. As far as I was concerned, I had stage 2b cervical cancer which came back, and I didn’t find it helpful having people tell me what they considered my “stage number” would be.

I had zero symptoms it was back anyway. Until they told me it was back.

I just didn’t/don’t want to hear it from them as mentally it would of done me no good, I get everyone is different.

As it is just now I am trying to focus on treating to control opposed to terminal, again this is a mental thing for me.

    Hea my fellow taysider Rofl

Today has been better I think. I’ve had a couple of moments where it all hit me like a tonne of bricks however I’ve managed to shake it off.

How was your treatment today? I was up at Maggie’s this morning and we took the dog for a walk through the gardens and came out at the oncology dept, I was thinking of you Hearts

  • I hate the word terminal. We are ALL terminal because we will all ultimately die. I get it. I never asked a stage at diagnosis, and it was only the CNS mentioning it after my appointment that gave me that knowledge. I had no idea about stages or anything to do with cancer. It’s just a number and it’s just a word.
