Hi Ladies
I hope you are all ok. I have seen a few people asking in threads how I have got on with my second scan results (I can’t find the thread now so writing this)
So, I was waiting 4 weeks for this scan result however week 2 of this waiting process I started showing symptoms. Cut a long story short I was given an emergency appointment, and from there told that the MRI highlighted some abnormalities. From there another PET scan was called for to which it confirmed that yes, it’s back and sadly not curable.
My oncologist has discussed maintenance treatment which I am still trying to get my head round and weigh up the pros and cons so to speak!
Right now I feel beaten, sad and angry all rolled into one. I am awaiting info being sent from the oncologist so I can fully look into the options and decide the right thing to do, that’s if my head can even process it.
Thank you all for kindly asking how I am, sadly it’s not a positive outcome which has broken my heart.
Jen
Hi Jen, I'm quite new here but mainly because I didn't use this forum the first time around. I had stage 2b cc in July 2019 and had been all clear up until the start of February when we discovered it had recurred in two lymph nodes but not in the original site.
I was started back on chemo a week later (carboplatin/paclitaxel) and am due my third session this week. Ive always maintained a positive attitude to this cancer and even losing my hair again for the second time which totally sucks. However I have been struggling this past few weeks as I also developed a DVT and then last week the leg with the DVT has swollen to the point of not being able to wear my normal clothes and shoes and a massive reduction in mobility. The first time around everything went fairly smoothly and i got through it without too many side effects etc which is probably why I'm struggling this time.
I'm so sorry you are in this position again too. I'm also in Scotland, in Tayside.
Wendy
Hi Wendy,
loosing the hair again sucks, I’m not looking forward to it however needs must I suppose.
I am sorry you are having a harder time this round, I suppose every time is different? Who knows with these drugs.
Im actually in Dundee! Where about in tayside are you? Are you being treated in ninewells?
Jen
xx
Oh wow, yes ninewells in my hospital too, I am in Montrose.
How weird is that to have someone so close in a similar position.
I am looking at re starting treatment in a couple of weeks. I’m under Dr Sanders. He said I will receive info by the end of the week.
Jen
xx
That's my doctor too and I have to say I've always found him to be pretty good. I hope you get all the information you need to help with your treatment plan. It totally sucks being back here again dealing with all this crap after a couple of years of near normal life. I'm in for 3rd chemo on Thursday. Who knows, our paths might cross there over the coming weeks....I'll be the person with one elephant leg and one twiglet leg!!
We might do indeed! I’m yet to find out what day I will be in. I know I’ll be 3 weekly this time round, I was weekly last time.
I’ll look out for the legs I’m the one still wearing a turban and usually with a bag full of food!
Jen
Aw well done you with the exercise and healthy eating. I managed to completed the 300k steps for Maggie’s and raised nearly £900 which was amazing! They even sent me a little medal. I hope I can continue with the fitness and healthy eating as I’m nearly at the 1 stone mark. I’ll see how it goes.
Sounds like you are getting on great Snobird, how amazing is that when you think back to the start of it all! What a woman you are
Hi Jen, thanks - funny I was thinking today of your steps to raise money and it is you who is amazing. I hope also that you can continue with the fitness and diet and even what you have done so far will help so much. You are in a very good position from that point of view. It would be awesome if yours and Welly's paths do cross over the coming weeks!! From her description, it should be easy to recognise her! Sending hugs xxx
That is an incredible achievement Jen, well done!

I start next Thursday, the 7th. It’s 3 weekly so don’t think I’ll get a chance to meet you xx
