So my body decided it would be fun to wait a week after some bleeding, not a period,  to give me a full blown period. In 2 days I've spent £20 on products. I can't sleep again with it and pain is bad I would gladly operate on myself to get itvout and get the pain gone. I can't take much more. I can't do anything,  breathing hurts let alone actually being a mom. Feel like my kids would be better if I just gave them to social services

  • Oh Scared mom-you really need to speak to someone. Treatment will stop the bleeding but you need some help before then. Who can you phone today? Do you have a number for the department/nurse at the hospital? Are you in the uk? Can you phone 111?

I would also suggest you phone Macmillan Support to talk to someone- its 0808 808 00 00. You need to talk with someone urgently. Please call them xx

I don't have any numbers but I will once kids are occupied with something.  I don't want my 6 year old to know too much as knowing we won't be able to hug for a week or more is already upsetting her.

  • Hi scared mom

Why are you not going to be able to hug your six year old for a week? xx

I gotta go into Coventry hospital for a week for a big blast of radiation,  how consultant explained it, and my kids will only sleep for my friend in Peterborough over 1 hour and 30 minutes away from where I live.

  • Ah, you maybe mean brachytherapy which happens at the end of the combined chemo and radiation? Brachytherapy is internal radiation and sometimes involves a hospital stay (it depends on the equipment and method the hospital uses). I was scheduled to be in for 2 nights but I’ve not heard of anyone being in for a week. That’s a while away yet though as it does happen at the end after the other treatments. xx

  • I was thinking same thing tbh..I'm scheduled for chemo radiation then bout 3 weeks into that iv to get 3 bouts of brachytherapy but theyre all outpatient appointments? I don't think they will do brachy alone so there must be treatments and procedures lined up somewhere? Xx Angela

  • Hi Angela

You're right-brachytherapy isn’t a stand alone treatment. It usually follows chemoradiation. Your hospital must have different equipment to mine-many ladies have this done as several short outpatient appointments. I was being treated at a specialist cancer hospital, yet they only had the equipment to do the in patient version of it. xx

Apparently Coventry ask for you to stay in for a week. I hope I don't but even then I gotta drop off and get kids around my other half working.

  • Apparently the treatment before that is full on! Mine will be both chemo and radiotherapy 5 days a week for 5+ weeks and that's before brachytherapy so childcare is something you will have to get plenty of help with if u can. My own children are all grown-up so I'm lucky in that sense. Hope all goes well for you xx Angela
