Hi,
I am booked in for a full hysterectomy with lymph nodes removal in three weeks and I am so anxious which I expected and I'm worried about all of it! I've had big surgeries in the past so I know what to expect and my new consultant is brilliant and walked me through what he will do and what will happen afterwards. I just can't shake the feeling of anxiety! I'm trying to prepare as much as possible and pack what I need for the hospital stay and make sure everything at home is comfortable for when I come back but has anyone got any advice at all?
Hi and welcome to the Online Community. I'm going to suggest you join us in the Womb cancer where we've all had hysterectomies. A possibility of cancer diagnosis brings all sorts of stress and fears and if anyone can hold your hand and reassure you we will. We're all at the start, in the middle or the end of this roller-coaster ride.
No matter how brilliant your Consultant is it's hard to shake off the little niggles that go through your mind. Before our surgeries most of us batch cooked meals for the freezer, cleaned out cupboards, made sure things are closer to hand so no bending or lifting.

It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. You can amend or update it at any time. If you’re not sure what to write, just click on my username.
If you want to ask any of us any questions please come back and do so. There's always someone around and we can offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or listen to a rant, we’re here for you.
It might also be a good idea to download this booklet Understanding Womb (Endometrial) Cancer. I found it invaluable on my journey.

Hi,
Thank you so much for this information, it's incredibly helpful! I'll start by updating my profile and I will join the group that you have suggested for sure too. I have spoken to Macmillan and I did find it very helpful, I think part of my problem is that I never want to be a bother to anyone and so I try and manage it all by myself and yet I know that's not realistic!!
