Hi I’m due to have radical hysterectomy on weds , can anyone offer any reassurance who have had this procedure for cc .
I know I really have no choice but can’t help but feel very scared and worried about the procedure . I’m worried I’ll wake up or it will go wrong , that I’ll be in awful pain , and then the instant menopause , and the wait for the test results from the lymph nodes Disappointed
I’m trying my best to stay calm and not overthink things ... any reassurance or advice would be appreciated xx

    Hi Stacemarie,

I had a Radical Hysterectomy 5 years ago in May, I was 26 and I know how scared it can seem.

please try not to worry too much the operation is big but the NHS staff are amazing, recovery was around 6 weeks and if you results come very quickly.

i really wish you all the best, be strong and keep positive as you can.

    Hi Stacemarie.

I just wondered how you were doing and what you recovery was like? I'm currently in hospital having had my radical hysterectomy on Friday, first day I felt great as was still on pain medication but had to stop it due to it making me feel sick and faint.

I don't think I'll ever feel 'normal' again

    Thanks

    Hi Besty

Ive just joined this group.   Due PET scan next Tuesday.  I had hysterectomy on 11 May and never imagined I would be thinking of digging the garden at week 7.  I didn’t think I would ever feel normal again but take it slow and steady and you will get there. I followed the physio exercise booklet and slowly built up my walking.  I’m driving again too.   I’ve got this gap before they start the next treatment which I am worried about so I’m really enjoying being normal for a few weeks.

Take Care, you will get there

You are right. Day 11 is a lot easier than Day 4.

Being home has helped a lot and the removal of my catheter.

Good luck for your further treatment. You've got this.
