New progression

  • Hi all
  • I had breast cancer 13 years ago with lumpectomy chemo and radiotherapy with 5 years of Tamoxifen. In June 2020 I was diagnosed with mets in the liver and spine and started Palbociclib and Letrozole and was doing ok. My latest scan is now showing small progression in the liver and possibly in the lungs too. I've been taken off the previous drugs and have been prescribed a new hormone one. I'm devastated and just think this is the beginning of the end. Is there anyone else in a similar place?
  • Hi Sas,

I too am on palbo/ letrozole and dread it stopping, but at least you are going onto another hormone based treatment. Even then there are some very effective chemo drugs, including Cape which is oral rather than I/v. Don’t give up hope yet…..

  • Thank you so much Mary. I've had 2 years on the palbo/letrozole plan and I suppose I got a bit complacent. Getting another scan in 2 months so fingers crossed the progression has halted for another while.

Good luck with your continued treatment x

  • I too have had 2 years on palbocyclib/letrazole.  Mets on 2 vertebra and my ilium.     And have been complacent too.  Last  CT and  consultation they had found a new met near my spine, took the scan to radiotherapy who aren’t sure it is a met. Detailed MRI due next Tuesday and consultation Wednesday when I ‘ll find out…. afingers crossed for you.

  • Hi Mickeyw

It’s hard to get the news of possible progression isn't it and for it not to be clear is prolonging the worry. Here's hoping your MRI is clearer and the news is better for you. I think as long as we still have options for further treatment we're doing OK Blush Good luck with your scan too.
