Hello everyone. I’ve just been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in my liver and lung. I’m in complete shock as it was only picked up on a scan for appendicitis and I have no pain or symptoms. I was treated for primary bc in 2019 and after a second clear annual mammo I decided I could take the risk of getting a new job and moving from Leeds to Plymouth. Just a week before I was due to move I was told they were worried about the lesion and nodule seen on my scan. I had to move to Plymouth and then wait for my scans and notes to transfer from Leeds to Plymouth before I could see an oncologist. It’s been a very long and hard 2.5 months waiting for a diagnosis. Part of me is relieved to know instead of being in awful limbo but most of me is devastated and so guilty about putting my friends and family though this again. I’m on my own in a new job, in a new city and although I’m now closer to my family I’m a long way from my friends. My oncologist is lovely and is very positive as it’s been caught so early and I’m starting treatment in 2 weeks time. Looking forward to chatting to all,of you in the club none of us wanted to be a member of xx
Hi Bobbins26
I'm sorry you have had to join this forum especially as you have been through bc before.
I too have secondaries in my liver, lung and bones mostly spine. I'm on Ribociclib, letrozole, zoladex and Denosaumaub. I was diagnosed de novo in March this year completely out of the blue.
Have they said what your treatment will be and what type of cancer is it?
I can't imagine what you have been through waiting 2.5 months for a diagnosis.
I did start to feel better mentally once I started my treatment. I have minimal side effects from the drugs so now I'm leading a fairly normal life. There are lots of treatment options for this and science is evolving all the time so I have faith that new treatments will be coming soon.
Try and take one day at a time. Do things that make you feel good, I've started walking and back at the gym. I've also taken the opportunity to revisit my diet to ensure iim as healthy as can be.
