Hi I have been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in my sternum and have had targeted radiotherapy in Dec 2020 and was put on letrozole but suffered terribly with diarrhoea, so it was changed to anastrozole but am still struggling a little bit and my hair is thinning loads, does anyone know if there’s an alternative that doesn’t cause diarrhoea or hair thinning? I’m getting to the point where I’m going stop all meds as my quality of life is rubbish.
Hi Spicegirl I am sorry to see that you are having such a rough time on the medication. I started on letrozole, then changed to anastrozole, but my side effects were different to yours. I haven't experienced diarrhoea or hair loss, the worst side effect for me is the joint pain. I was so bad on letrozole that for some of the time I was in a wheelchair. I am much better on anastrozole, but still have terrible joint pain.
Have you tried a different brand of anastrozole? I tried a few different ones until I found the one that gives me the least side effects. For me that is Teva, but I know others have said that different brands are better for them.
