Hi all. I started my treatment plan of fulvestrant and denosumab (injections) and palbociclib (tablets) is there anyone else having the same treatment. I have 3 lesions on my spine. I found out on 17th june and believe I have been ok since but today I have been very tearful and lack any positivity. I pray this gets easier as my prognosis is 4-5 years I’m 51!!!

  • Hi there Loulou1007, I am on similar treatment to yourself for bone mets. I haven't asked for a prognosis, no-one can predict how well you will respond to treatment, and newer treatments are coming out all the time. There's a bone mets thread over on breastcancernow.org where there's ladies posting on there who've been living with secondaries for many, many years. I take hope from them. I am coming up to my year anniversary for secondary diagnosis, and my 2 scans since have both been stable with no further spread. I'm back to work full time and living life normally, something I wouldn't have thought possible when I was diagnosed. Hope this helps

    Jools xx

  • I think prognoses are always based on statistics not individuals; I have a close friend whose bone mets were found first, before the primary BC. That was in 2004. All was relatively stable until 2014 when the cancer spread to liver/ lungs. Thanks to developments in treatment she is still here and has had 17 years of mostly decent life.
I was diagnosed with SBC in May and just keep hoping that I respond to treatment like she has! Plan for the worst but hope for the best!

Thank you for your reply. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis in May. Your friend is an inspiration to all. My mother in law got secondaries 6 years ago in the femur then 3 years ago it spread to her Liver and lungs she is 80 another inspiration to all. Louxx

  • Hi loulou, it's completely normal to feel like you are just now, my secondary diagnosis sent me into a spiral of panic, depression, insomnia.. but I did settle down into my treatment plan and after the first 2 scan results came through I'm definitely in a better place.. my oncologist has let me take an extra week off palbociclib as I'm going on holiday on Friday, wee staycation. In fact my biggest concern right now is what to pack for the weather haha .. take care and stay strong

I hope to get to that better place, I need to digest everything that has happened, treatment started last week so hormones are all over the place. It made me smile when you said your concern right now is what to pack for the holiday haha can't wait for some of my normality to return. Have a wonderful holiday and hope to stay in touch Lou xx
