Having been on Phesgo for 18 months unfortunately it is no longer effective so I now have the choice of Enhertu or Kadcyla. What are patients opinions?
Hi Bother.
It seems that Enhertu (if you can get it) is much more effective. Have a read here: https://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/enhertu-dramatically-more-effective-than-kadcyla-as-2nd-treatment-for-her2-positive-mbc
My wife is on it (privately) for HER2low disease, and so far the results have been quite astounding.
Cheers,
Andy
Thank you for your helpful reply. How have the side effects been for your wife?
very best wishes to you both.
Her neutrophils were very low on the full dose, so she had to delay by a week, and has been restarted of a lower dose.
I would say the main side effect is fatigue. On the lower dose this seems to be be a lot better.
Of course everyone is different, and side effects differ person to person.
Thank you for your reply. Did the side effects kick in on the first dose or after a cycle? Was the dose lowered when she went back after the first three weeks?
The side effects were worse for the first week after the infusion.
She had the first 2 infusions at full strength. It was the 3rd that had to be delayed and the dose reduced.
Depending on her upcoming scan results, her oncologist said he might suggest a treatment break.
Apparently this is a drug that you can have a "holiday" from, which is nice to know.
Thank you for replying. As I am 85 and live alone I am really sacred of not being able to manage the side effects.
Compared to chemotherapy, the side effects are minimal. I'm sure you'll be fine!
Enhertu is a chemo drug which is what scares me. Did your wife do another chemotherapy treatment before?
Sorry, when I say "chemotherapy" I mean the drugs that target any/all fist growing cells.
Enhertu is a targeted therapy which only target cells expressing HER2.
My wife has had a lot of different treatments. If you click on my name, it should take you to my profile where I've listed everything so far.
