Lion's mane mushroom

Hi, has anyone taken Lion's mane mushroom? Did it help? As I have Stage 4 TNBC with mets, I am on chemo permanently. I am thinking of adding them to my weekly chemo. I would also like to take Turmeric and Magnesium. I am aware that the oncologists do not recommend patients taking supplements while on chemo, however my life going forward will be with chemo for as long as it works.

Thank you

  • Hi

I don't have any experience with taking Lion's mane mushroom but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I did a search of the group to see if there were any previous posts which mentioned it but drew a blank I'm afraid. Of course this doesn't necessarily mean that no one else has used it, maybe they just haven't posted about it.

As you mentioned, it's always best to run any supplements passed your oncologist before starting them as I understand they can interfere with the chemo.

  • I don’t know about the rights and wrongs of adding things alongside chemo. I did like reading the cancer active charity website for chemo tips. The other thing which you might find helpful is listening to Tim Spector’s Zoe podcast on mushrooms and health. I think it was released this week. I take turkeytail mushroom for HER2 low breast cancer and eat mushrooms every day. Whether it helps or not I don’t know, but I do love eating them .
