Hi everyone, this is my first post on here.. my partner was diagnosed with breast cancer around 2 years ago and had a mastectomy and we thought we were in the clear. November he was diagnosed with mets in his spine and pelvis, started treatment and with the right combo of pain relief we seemed to be doing really well. Come December we realise he has lymphoedema in his legs and stomach. had scans in April which showed shrinkage, we then went on an amazing holiday where we got engaged!
came back to England with a bump, we thought he had a chest infection but were told yesterday he’s got quite a lot of fluid on both lungs and they’re going to drain one side this weekend.
They’re unsure at the minute if it’s lymph fluid or the cancer is now in his lungs. Suggesting chemotherapy if it’s the latter
does anyone have experience of this and I know all circumstances are different but any idea on time frames now? The consultant asked if we’d considered moving the wedding up, it’s in January. I wasn’t brave enough to ask if she was hinting we didn’t have that long.
Hi Ciri90 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
Congratulations on your engagement but I'm sorry to read that your partner is going through more tests and possible treatment.
I'm not a member of this group but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily seen.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
