I had this diagnosis on 13 December 2021 after first being diagnosed in 2018. Totally devastated and no idea how to deal with the news that I was originally cured but am now Stage IV. Breast Surgeon did not listen to me for 2 years so it was missed!
Hi Liz, it’s a shock when you discover you weren’t cured after all, one that we all share on this forum. Hopefully by now you have a treatment plan and are starting to deal with the cancer. Dealing with the emotional shock can take much longer, and I’m not sure we ever get used to having stage 4 cancer, but as with everything we adapt.
I am almost a year since diagnosis, sixteen years after primary. I didn’t want to stop taking hormone suppression drugs, but in2016 the onc said there was no benefit. Then it woke up However my mets are stable and I am living a reasonable life now thanks to new generation drugs.
I hope that you get treatment that works for you and you can get in with living as normally as possible
