I don't visit this site much at the moment because I found that I was getting sucked into the bad news stories and it was making me feel very low. Anyway, as an alternative, I thought I would start a thread for positive secondary BC stories as I'm pretty sure we would all welcome them! Please feel free to add your own so that we can build a library to remind us of positivity when we are feeling that our bodies are against us! Positive stories only please. My first one is below the emojis.
Just wanted to share some of my own good news. Some of you might remember that I responded really well to chemo which ended back in March this year, everything had shrunk significantly but my primary tumor was still there. I was told it was unlikely that the combination of phesgo/zoladez/tamoxifen would get rid of the remaining disease.
Well I'm happy to report that after my most recent scans, I am now N.E.A.D and it feels like a massive relief for a while. Next step is radiotherapy to the area that my primary tumor was just to get rid of any sneaky cells that are likely there but too small to show on a scan.
Sending you all love & light <3
That is fantastic news and such a relief so pleased for you so brilliant to hear positive news hugs all round
Xx
Absolutely wonderful Georgina. My last recent scan showed no spread . All stable. Cancer not active so treatments are offering possibility of such positive outcomes
Hi ladies,
I don't know how I didn't see this thread earlier. Loving the positive stories.
I was diagnosed Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, HER2- ER+ with secondaries to bone (spine, pelvis and a rib) following lumpectomy and sentinel node removal November 2021. I am coming up on a year of post operative treatment at the end of next week and so far, so good. No progression.
I'm on my 13th cycle of 125mg Palbociclib 3 weeks on - 1 week off'; 12-weekly Zoledronic Acid infusion (5th one two weeks ago) and daily Letrozole. I had my most recent CT scan last Monday a week ago and awaiting results.
Anyone else on the same treatment/similar diagnosis? I think they call it de novo when you haven't had an earlier primary then it comes back as a secondary.
I live in the Highlands with my husband of 31 years, and our 14yo son. It's been very snowy here the last few days.
Looking forward to reading more positive stories, and when I get my results, I'll update this post.
Thanks,
Kathryn x.
When you're going through hell, don't stop!
Hi Kathryn, I'm in northern Ireland and it's snowy here too, although probably not as much as in the Highlands!!
I just wanted to add my positive story, as I'm on the same meds as yourself. Diagnosed secondaries to spine, sternum and hip sept 2020 , after being diagnosed with primary BC few weeks earlier. ER+ HER2- .. Just about to start cycle 28 , working full-time around appointments, trying to live life as normal as possible.. good luck on your treatment plan!!

Wow. Can’t believe you are managing to work full time Jools. I run out of energy very quickly. Maybe it’s age? 75. Anyway. Well done and great to read your story and yours Kathryn
does anyone have experience of dizzy spells? Blood pressure is okay. Have been on same treatment for two years so doubt it can be side effect. Transtuzumab and pertuzumab
Welcome to the positivity Brainybunch lovely to hear from you, I am also back at work Jools-50 it keeps life as normal as it can be and I am lucky to enjoy what I do My oncologist has agreed to me having the Trastuzumab and Pertuzumab 3 weekly for another year as long as I can cope with the side effects which at the moment are manageable. I can’t say I have had dizzy spells I mostly had them when I was having chemo. My last scan in Nov showed the spread had halted and the breast tumour was reduced more than half so I am hoping for more positive news in Feb when I have my next scan. Sending everyone positive vibes xxx
