Hello,
I have liver and lung mets and I'm hoping at my oncology appointment later this week I get a treatment plan.
Last week, I had a liver biopsy and it seemed straightforward. Before biopsy day I had fairly mild pain from liver, manageable. Since biopsy, the pain is worse especially when moving about. I'm going to take paracetamol every day up to oncology appointment and see what oncology advises/gives me treatment plan. Did/ does anyone else have liver pain from liver mets either before treatment or after their biopsy and did it ease?
Thanks,Stripey xx
I have had a microwave ablation procedure on liver mets and was exceedingly sore afterwards. Pain radiating up into the shoulder plus stiffness / difficulty bending or twisting the abdomen. I don’t think the liver likes being poked around. It settled within a couple of weeks both times.

Hi Coddfish
Thanks for replying. I'd imagine ablation on liver would be very painful, much more than a biopsy. My pain, too, is radiating up to my shoulder. I hope it settles. Did you use paracetamol or get something else or find anything that helped?
Best wishes and thanks
Stripey xx
It was bad enough to be prescribed codeine which I used for the first few days alongside paracetamol.

Thanks, that may be an option for me if paracetamol isn't enough. I'll keep going with paracetamol and see Oncology Thursday.
I'm worried it's the liver mets getting worse rather than the biopsy being the cause.
In the radiology day case unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. I think the limit is 3 and they have to be quite small - less than 2cms. I have had the procedure twice.

Hi Ali here
I have low dose morphine one tablet lasts for 12 hours plus liquid to top up if needed. Definitely helped me, suggest checking in with your oncology nurse and ask about pain medication xx
