Hi lovely people on this forum. I was diagnosed with mets 2 months ago and had started on letrozole and first round of ribociclib. I was due to start back on the ribo 10 days ago but my neutrophils were too low. Had a 2nd blood test yesterday and the neutrophils are still to low, so cannot go back on ribo for another week.

This is worrying me!! I can't find any research on line that really talks about the consequences of delaying the next cycle. Has anyone had this explained or found good research?

Best wishes to everyone.

  • Thank you for replying.  I’m so pleased you are doing well on your treatment now.
im back at hospital on Friday so I’ll see what the plan is..

  • Hi I have secondary breast cancer met in my lungs, Im on my 9th cycle now of ribociclib my scans just show stable, I was hoping for some strinkage, how is your breathing, I still struggle with mine.

  • Hi , please could you tell how are you feeling now , your post says you posted it a year ago .
I have been on Ribiciclib since end of April this year 2024 I had some hiccups at first , now I just hoping that it somehow will get better . But I do develop some sort of itchy rush on my back and I wonder what it could be . My GP said today it’s might be an allergic reaction on something… make me think GPs have no idea what Ribiciclib is and how it effects our bodies .

i would like to hear from your progress and how you feeling over all .
    kind regards

    Yulia

  • Like I said I'm due to go on my 10th cycle, I'm always tired, my hair as thinned and just this last week my scalp is very sore, the scans haven't shown any shrinkage which I think was hoping for, see what the next one shows, my coughing seems to be worse since the heating is on. Overall I can't say that ribociclib is good or bad as the oncologist says it's good that there's no progression.

  • Yes , I had similar experience with stopping for few weeks and then restarting, my oncologist reassured me that the medication is still in your body just not with the same strength.

  • Thank you for your response this is very helpful to actually chat to someone in real time . Wishing you best

  • Hi there

I was given some cream by my nurse as ribociclib can apparently cause dry skin and rash. I used it occasionally on my back which seemed to get dry and tight skin. It helped me and was called Pliazon plus.

I stopped the ribociclib after 5 cycles as my liver enzymes went too high. I’m now taking a similar drug called palbociclib, so far no issues with the liver though my white blood count is close to one which is too low. I may have to take a break from it to allow recovery.
When I stopped taking ribociclib I only took letrozole for 5months as it took that long for my liver to calm down. I must add that I also have rheumatoid arthritis so don’t know if that made it all worse!? At first I was worried that I was only taking letrozole but it didn’t make much difference not having the second drug. I suppose it’s down to the persons diagnosis.
My bone lesions are stable as of last ct scan in September 2024. My cancer markers are at 58 for the last 18 months.

being this ill is really hard for me and mentally difficult to deal with some days. I just take it moment by moment and do my best each day.

    take care of yourself

  • Hi, Like you I’m taking letrazole and ribo, was diagnosed last January with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. It took a while for my body to settle down on ribo, it was stopped on the 4th month due to low white blood cells. I had a blood transfusion and did restart after about 2 weeks but was still unwell, eventually in month 6 my consultant reduced the dose to 400 and I haven’t looked back since.
